Shading Suggestions

I'm in a bit of a pickle.

For some reason, I'm not able to find the correct style of shading that I want for a drawing I've been working on.

I'm looking for a style similar to Disney's style. I know it's important to work on your own methods, but for this particular pieces, I was hoping to to make it "Disney-esk." Mostly because I have never drawn something to close to the style before, haha!

And I guess I wanted to portray my characters in that kind of setting, you know??

So, any suggestions? Examples would you lovely. Or even links to tutorials that are pretty close to the methods.

I would simply pick a slightly darker colour (you can even use a colour from their environment too, as any colour on a multiply layer will become darker) version of their fur. On a new layer that's set to multiply and using a soft-edged brush, I would colour some basic shaded shapes and would keep it fairly minimal/simple. Similar to this fan-art here (not my image,, or any TLK screengrab really): http://images2.fanpop.com/images/pho...4-1000-750.jpg

You can then lower the opacity of the layer to let the fur colours show through until you get the shadow strength you want.

I hope that made sense

It absolutely did! I still have trouble with adjustment layers; like using multiply, etc. I still haven't gotten the hang of it. Mostly cause I still can't figure out which each of them does...

I may post the image after it's been shaded for suggestions in whether the color pallet looks appropriate as well.

Thank you Azerane!!

Also, any other idea are still welcome!
