The next morning Hitteki and the dragons well enough to return to their lands were up early, Queen Hitteki seemed eager to get moving and to inform the council of raising the council so it could recall the members.
Hitteki had 8 dragons with her, the other 4 were still recovering from wounds and would not be able to fly out for another few days, Melina had left their care in the capable hands of Dr Sammual who was her second in command within the medical facilities at the base.
Melina was packing her bags and made sure that urgent medical supplies were packed, Vonriir would be asked to do the heavy lifting, carrying a number of items so she could set up a medical post, just in case things did go a little pear shaped.
Luckily Jack had ordered new harnesses to be made for all the main dragons at Comhaltas and this included, battle armour, battle harnesses, riding harnesses and transport harnesses too.
Jack been keen they were fully stocked for the challenges ahead and they all came on the latest transport to the facility.
Vonriir knocked on the door and was met by Forge who opened it. The cragback was wearing his cargo harness.
"Ready for the supplies," he announced.
Melina looked up and smiled at the massive dragon before them.
“Hello Von, thank’s for doing this, you sure your ok doing this for me? I promise there is nothing heavy being transported” Melina assured the Crag back.
Melina was packing all the travel medical supplies, no advanced equipment or terminals but she would carry her own tablet and scanner to ensure she could help any dragons that needed it.
"That's fine. Forge has told me it's medical supplies. Can't be too heavy." Smiled the dragon.
Melina nodded looking at the silver dragon.
“Can you load those items on the side into the pockets of the harness please Forge?, I packaged them up so they won’t break” Melina asked kindly to her guardian dragon as she finished packing her rucksack.
Forge did as requested as Vonriir clipped the bags to his harness.
"I hope we won't have need of this." He commented
"Nor do I," agreed Forge.
Melina packed up her rucksack as she thanked Vonriir who smiled and left the two of them to finish up before they headed off to the council chambers of the Syrians.
Forge seemed to pause contemplating something.
"Melina," said Forge quietly as he looked down at her. "Please don't stray far from my side during the visit. I don't know what might happen and I don't want any risk to you."
The professor looked up and smiled up at the silver dragon before her.
"You worry too much my Silver I am stronger than you think" Melina said.
"Hit me then. If I was a dragon who wanted to do you harm, how would you prevent that?" He asked her, pretending to push her with his nose.
Melina laughed lightly but out of confusion to what the silver was after from her, giving him a funny look.
“I’m not hitting you, your my dragon, why on Kilara would you want me to do that?” she asked him.
"To illustrate a point," replied the dragon. " I have no doubt that you're strong but against a creature far larger than you it is no match. Which is why I want you to stay close."
Melina shook her head lightly but she looked up at Forge with fire in her eyes.
“Carry on Silver and I will lump you one, I been going to combat training and working out as well, you seen me, so don’t write me fully off as some squishy weakling Mr Forge” Melina said assertively.
"Alright dragon slayer," said Forge. "But my request still stands. Please don't stray far."
“I stay close Forge but don’t think I wont hit you with those comments my seasoned dragon, anyways Jack will be there along with David” Melina said, trying to reassure the silver.
"Yes, yes." Nodded Forge. "And their dragons as well. I dare then to try anything."
Melina nodded as she flung her rucksack over her shoulder and tied her hair back, wearing her outdoor gear.
“Ok, let’s get to the hanger” Melina said as the two of them left their quarters.

Down in the hanger Jack was there in the normal harness and he was geared up as well for outdoor weather, Ardon looked impressive as it seemed Jack had put some polish on him for the visit to the council halls.
Hitteki was there waiting with the others of her clan, while Vonriir was patiently waiting, Melina and Forge entered as she nodded.
“Hope we did not keep you sir” Melina said to Jack.
The man shook his head lightly.
“Not at all but Queen Hitteki is keen to return to the council and get this all under way, she fears there could be more surprise attacks or traps by the mountain dragons” Jack said to the professor and to Forge.
"We will ensure that an attack will not happen while she has us as escort." Replied Forge.
Jack nodded.
“Xerrus and David will come in the night and do night patrols, we best be off the advisor seems to be getting anxious we move so we best ride” Jack said.
Forge nodded, "alright. I am ready to head out." He looked down at Melina and offered a paw to lift her up onto his shoulder.
Melina took the offer and got on board the silver, once she was settled the dragons began to leave, the Syrians left first and then Jack took off with Ardon, then Forge with the large Crag back taking off last.
Jack noticed that the wings of a Syrian were slightly shorter and they seemed to fly slightly lower than they could with the wings beats quicker than how Ardon or Forge did to keep airborne.
“Seems they flap harder to keep them airborne due to their wings being a bit shorter, seems they aren’t too quick either” Jack commented to the gold.
"Yeah. they dig tunnels so I guess they are better suited for life lived mostly on the ground," replied Ardon.
Jack agreed as the man observed as they flew in a defensive formation as they took a course back home, Jack had to ask Ardon to slow down so they could be keep in a escort position, Forge had done the same with the large crag back at the rear.
Melina was reading the report that Ucluelet had sent for Forge to read as she studied it while having a drink from her flask.
“I think first port of call will be this Khan fellow, see what the lay of the land if and see what he knows of the whole situation here, perhaps he knows some tactics you could play as the negotiator” Melina said to the silver.
"Yes. I agree. He will have to be informed anyway if Queen Hitteki is to hold council." Replied Forge.
Melina agreed, any help would be most useful.
“Reading the report from your niece, it’s going to require all your expertise and cunning in diplomacy here, it seems the bickering has been led by feuding factions, how this council has stayed together is a miracle in itself, reminds me of early humanity at times” Melina replied back to the silver.
"We will have to see if we can set thing right to start repairing this mess," hummed the silver.
“I agree and some luck to go our way” Melina replied back as they continued their flight towards the Syrian lands.
The Forest Syrians as the name suggested lived in the vast stretch of thick forests on the eastern side, the network of tunnels ran underneath the forests and woods, allowing them to move swiftly around their territory.
The council was based on the outskirts of the lush forest and seemed to be based in a rocky area at the end of the woods, trees had thinned out and the area seemed a little sandy for normal forest life to grow, though there was running water running off one of the rocks, feeding some hardy planets near the water’s edge.
Melina guessed they went for as neutral and representing all the clans as possible, from the air it did not look like much but she guessed it was grand under the earth.
The Syrians began to lower and Jack gave a gesture to the other dragons to come into land, as the Syrians landed one by one.
“We best land by there, Von will need space” Melina said to the silver.
As was custom, the largest dragon , being Vonriir, landed first. Forge then swooped in after him, flaring his great silver wings before landing softly with Ardon following behind.
Once the dragons had all landed Hitteki approached with her advisor close in tow, it seemed they were eager to continue to inform Khan of what had happened and to call a council meeting.
“We require you meet the law keeper and neutral earth Syrian who knows the council laws and Syrians laws for ages, please follow it will be underground” she said to the Silver.
"Will, will there be enough room?" asked Forge. His breed and Vonriir were far bigger than the Syrian dragons.
Hitteki nodded lightly to the question put before her.
“Our tunnels are large and deep, for structural purposes, we tunnel properly Forge, your largest dragon Vonriir maybe a bit compacted but I think he need to try” Hitteki said.
Melina had been allowed off Forge as Hitteki spoke to the silver, listening to the conversation.
“I think its best if Vonriir tries first and if he can’t fit it have to be you Forge with Ardon” Jack said.
"I will wait out here," replied the crag back, sitting down to guard the entrance.
"We'll return shortly," replied the silver, descending into the tunnel.
Hitteki led the way as Melina, Jack and Ardon entered the tunnel, it was brilliantly carved out of the earth and was pretty big but Jack would of assumed the Crag back would of gotten stuck.
They descended down gently, Jack admired at the tunnel building skills of the Syrian dragons, although not big, it was still tolerable for Forge as they slowly descended down, losing the natural light.
Ahead the earth tunnels seemed to be now stone, with carvings embedded in the rock itself, looking like Syrian guards as Jack could basic fire torches lighting up the tunnel.
“The Council was made with the help of all the clans, we dug the earth tunnels leading down, then the mountain dragons did the stone tunnel and sculptures you just past, there will be green plants and moss covering a few as gifts from the forest clan and we cross an underground river to the main hall” Hitteki explained to the comhaltas team.
"Very unique," noted Forged, looking around as they walked.
"Seems like there was peace between the clans at once point if they all came together to create this." said Ardon.
Hitteki nodded lightly to Ardon’s question.
“I was told by my parents that the leaders worked tirelessly on this place to make it an icon of Syrian dragon clan unity and peace, being tribal made us easier to pick off for other dragons, this represented a big step, as you can see the mountain dragons contributed a lot, making the walls and floor smooth with their hotter fire and to make it use the most of the fire torches placed here” Hitteki explained, pointing out old Syrian leaders made from the rock as they seemed to head towards the centre of Syrian democracy.
"Your majesty, what rules should we heed to while in the council chambers. We do not want to make a misstep, especially during the early stages of this negotiation," asked Forge.
Jack had to agree, they did not want to make a mess of this before it even took off the ground, they needed to get on the right foot.
Hitteki looked up at Forge and spoke.
“Our law holder and council Syrian will help you, there is no council session being held, there would be a pyre lit outside to signal the clans meeting, we are nearly there, save your questions for Elder Khan” Hitteki said.
Forge cast a brief glance to Melina before nodding at the dragoness, "Of course, Queen Hitteki."
Melina sensed Forge’s concern and she gave him a smile and a thumbs up as they continued forward.
Soon a vast cavern opened up and a circular chamber appeared, beautifully decorated in carvings and fire torches lit up the chamber well, it was went down where there was large stone slabs in a circle with clan symbols spread round in a circle.
Jack was impressed at the detail, the slbs were obviously for the council members to sit and the raised platforms were stone slabs on top of one another so the leaders of the council could speak.
Melina seemed in awe at this place, this was the pinnacle of Syrian culture and it was very impressive.
"Oh woah," marvelled Ardon as they stepped into the council room.
"This is indeed impressive," hummed Forge.
Hitteki smiled slightly.
“Welcome ot the council chamber, please wait here while I go locate Elder Khan, he will be in his chambers please bear with me” Hitteki said she and her advisor left to the left and disappeared down a tunnel to find the elder.
“Well, seems you have a good audience here Forge, if they allow us to intervene” Jack said.
“Reminds me of the old Greek councils back in Ancient times” Melina added.
"You had gathering places like this on earth?" Ardon asked Melina quietly. "That's cool."
“Well, not exactly, think outside not underground and grand marble buildings, a brilliant white and people would gather to debate and vote, birthplace of democracy on Earth from Greece” Melina explained to the gold.
Ardon nodded, he liked learning about the place from which jack and Melina had come from. He realized he should save his questions for another time as there were more urgent matters to attend to.
Soon Hitteki returned with another Syrian, he looked a lot older than the others the team had seen, he had Grey fur leading from his back to the very tip of his tail, he was a brown coloured Syrian but some scales were looking dull in places, he was marked with blue markings on his side that led up to his neck, his eyes a brown colour as they saw the guests before the old Syrian.
“I’d like to introduce you to elder Khan the oldest and longest serving Council Law keeper to the council, he is neutral sworn to neutrality in the name of peace and democracy for our clans” Hitteki said as Khan gave a bow, his movements slow.
Ardon looked to forge to introduce them, seeing as he was leading the involvement of the negotiations.
"We are honoured to meet you, Elder Kahn. " he introduced himself, Melina, Ardon and jack as well as made mention of Vonriir outside. "We have come, representing Comhaltas , to help alleviate the tension that seems to have grown between your clans."
The Old dragon nodded lightly and gave a small smile.
“Pleasure to meet you all, forgive me, an old dragon like me has not seen Humans before, forgive an old dragon for staring in curiosity” Khan said to Jack and Melina.
“Of course, we want to be here to help solve the issues here, we were asked to come in and help with the rising tensions” Jack said.
Khan scratched his chin.
“Ahh yes, the current issues, her majesty Hitteki has mentioned it, please, follow me to my chambers, it is big enough and we can discuss more” Khan said as Hitteki spoke.
“I need to make arrangements with my Syrians, I shall leave you here in Khan’s care, I shall be back in a day or so, scouts will be dispatched” Hitteki said bowing lightly before leaving.
The comhaltas group bowed in return before following the older dragon towards his chambers. "Thank you for meeting with us, Elder Kahn," said Ardon.
The old Syrian was slower than his other counter parts, Jack noticed he seemed to be breathing heavier trying to keep an acceptable pace as they followed him to his chambers as they left the council chamber through another tunnel.
"Forgive me I am not as fast as I once was, old age has crept up on me, the mind is sharp but the body weakens" Khan said.
"We have time, do not rush on our account," said the silver.
Khan nodded, appreciating the silver’s comments as he carried on talking.
"Always so much to do and so little time, has her majesty explained my position with the council?" the old dragon asked.
"Yes she did explain," nodded Ardon, "you're a neutral member to ensure council law remains intact."
Khan did not answer straight away as they entered his chambers, again it was massive but instead of it being purely his chamber, it was for his position and station on the council, there were drawings on the walls and seemed to be a large map drawn using basic colours and inks got naturally.
Melina seemed in awe as they had developed a basic type of documentation, far before any other dragons around, she only wished Ucluelet was here to record it.
Elder Khan made his way to his large bed in the corner and lay down upon it, slowly lowering himself onto the dried grass as he spoke again.
"Yes, I can advise you and let you know the lay of the land but cannot take sides or break my oath" Khan said as the dragon rested on his dried grass bed looking a little out of breath.
"We wouldn't dare ask that if you, Kahn. We just want to make sure that we do not cross any lines with our involvement. Your guidance and knowledge would be greatly appreciated." Said Forge.
Khan gave a small smile.
"That I shall do, I also know a few tricks to delay the council in sticky situations " Khan replied obviously knowing some little diplomatic games to play to allow him more time.
"Those would be good to know," said Forge, "we hope that with our help there can be peace among the clans again."
Elder Khan nodded as he spoke again to explain what was going to happen.
“I best get down to business, scouts have been sent to all clans to meet here, it is an urgent point of order which all Syrians must attend, the council will be full of delegates in about 2 days’ time” Khan explained.
Forge nodded. "How many do you expect to be here?"
“It will be a full house, representatives from all clans, Water, Mountain, Forest, Ice and desert and Earth will be here, each clan has 20 seats in a council chamber of 120, it was designed for fair and honest representation, well that is how it was supposed to be” Khan said with a heavy sigh.
The silver tilted his head, "was how it was supposed to be? That sounds like past tense, Kahn. Is is not so any more?" He inquired.
The old dragon shook his head and seemed to have a heavy heart.
“I am afraid not, it seems for some reason, the mountain dragons have been gaining extra seats, most from the water clan, over 8 of their representatives stepped down and relinquished their seats to the Mountain dragons, meaning the Mountain dragons now have 28 seats and I think a few more will follow” Khan explained.
“How is that possible is there no rules to stop that?” Melina asked to old dragon, confused why the water clan would give up their seats so easily to the mountain dragons.
"Is that even allowed?" Asked Ardon, thinking that was terribly unfair.
Khan coughed and then spoke.
“There is no rule against it, the water clan can decide what they do with their empty seats, it seemed odd they hand it over to mountain dragons, recently the water dragons have sided with the Mountain Syrians, on every vote, if you look at the map there you see why” Khan said, pointing his claws to a wall map of the whole Syrian clans and their territories.
Melina and Jack looked at it in awe, it perfectly laid out the clans territories, it was done very methodically, the Syrians lands as a whole group stretched miles and Jack understood why the map had to be detailed to prevent any arguments or bickering among the Syrian clans.
“Very diverse lands” Jack said to Melina who nodded.
Melina looked at the map and could see the water clan was very close to the Mountain Clan’s territory, she noticed a vast waterfall leading into a massive lake on the plains.
“The water clan are at their mercy, the large waterfall here is fed from the mountains, if they cut it off the lake could dry up” Melina said as Jack looked at it and nodded in agreement, no wonder the water dragon’s were terrified of voting against the mountain clan.
"There is something more afoot, I think the mountain Syrians have discovered or made something that has the water clan scared, they always vote with them...never votes against anything" Khan replied.
"What do you think is the cause behind all this?" Inquired forge, trying to figure out what Kahn thought of all this.
Khan gestured to the whole chamber with his paws and the sculptures in the rock of old Syrian dragons who had been law keepers of the council before Khan.
"They are the crafters and makers of the Syrian world, you seen what they can create, I fear they built something to destroy and intimidate others" Khan said to the silver.
"But why? What would they have to gain going against the other clans?" asked Ardon.
Jack sighed lightly at the question shaking his head, the same old story and Ardon always saw the world in magical fairy dust where everyone was happy.
“Why do anyone do anything to intimidate and harm others, same with dragon battles and wars , same on earth one group want more power and control over everyone else, once in power they stay there, the mountain clan are no different terrify and manipulate the other clans and control the council, have that power” Jack said
"They can't do that," huffed Ardon.
Forge put up a paw to halt the gold's temper.
"That's why we're here, Ardon. We need to help restore balance. One clan cannot bully the others especially because of want or desire."
Melina nodded, pleased with Forge’s reaction to Ardon’s temper, they needed cool heads here.
“I wish it was simple, Hitteki has issues a point to order about getting you guys in as independent negotiators, it still needs the approval of the council and votes” Khan commented.
The silver dragon nodded, he had expected as such but just hoped he would have enough support from the other clans to gain their vote. "I understand."
“How many seats on the council?” Jack asked.
Khan seemed to go quiet as he appeared to be counting in his head.
“120, with 6 Syrian clans” he replied back.
“So that is 20 seats each” Jack said trying to work out how many votes Forge would need to get the backing, knowing 40 votes were already against him but Maths wasn’t Jacks forte.
Melina smiled knowing the answer.
"Forge will need over 60 votes to win the vote" Melina said as Khan nodded lightly.
"Do you think there are enough dragons on the council that want the mountain clan to stop to garner me enough votes, Elder Kahn?" Asked Forge.
Khan looked up at the silver from his bed and replied back.
"I believe so but a fear has gripped the other clans apart from the forest clan, they may oppose the Mountain clan but may not speak up, I propose a speech to be made by you to perhaps turn the tide a little, don’t expect any help from the water clan, they are too terrified to vote out of line" Khan warned the silver.
“Damm, gives them 40 Votes already” Jack said.
"I would expect as such. If I am allowed to address the council before the vote I will do so." Replied Forge.
Khan nodded lightly.
“I ensure you do, your name is known here, it will carry weight but there maybe others who need convincing, expect no cooperation from Mountain or Water sadly, some may join with them in fear of reprisals but we can only see and hope my friends” Khan said as Jack nodded.
“Well, let the fun of politics and diplomacy begin” he said folding his arms.

The shadow dragon stood in the dimly lit room, geared up in his black harness. It had been his request that the black match his scales and that there was no silver on his buckles to ensure that they did not glint or reflect light while he flew at night. They had been powder coated with a special black matte paint to help retain his stealth though the dragon did think that the harness made more noise than he would have liked. The girls thought he looked dashing in it, though they often compared him to a horse, not that he minded all that much.
Night was creeping in outside and it was nearly time for he and David to head out. Flying to the territory through the night wouldn’t be too difficult and from what the dragon could tell of the weather, they would have good tail winds to help them along.
The girls had come to send them off as well as Brianne. They had pretended to go over the night striker’s harness ensuring that their father had put it on correctly and Tara had tried to offer her stuffed toy to take along but Xerrus politely declined, insisting that Scales stay with her to guard her while he was away.
“Now be good for your mother, kids. Me and Xerrus have an important mission to help some dragons stop squabbling,” David explained to his children.
“Don’t let them be mean to each other,” said Michelle quietly. She had snuck down to the labs and had seen some of the injuries. It had taken a lot of coaxing from her mother to assure her that they would be fine.
“We won’t, little lady. We’re there to make sure everyone is getting along,” said the dragon, “Getting them to use their words, just like your mom teaches you when you and your sister squabble.”
“We don’t fight,” protested Tara.
Xerrus chuckled, “Alright, if you say so. As your father said, behave for your mother. We will be back as soon as we can. “
“Be safe and return to us soon, boys,” smiled Brianne as she and David embraced before he climbed up the dragon’s harness rigging and got into the saddle.
“Will do, ladies,” replied the dragon, opening his wings silently. They flared up and out, high over his crest.
“See you soon,” he called, letting out a burst of shadow smoke and jumping aloft, the wing of his wings coming down send the haze billowing in every direction, making the girls cheer.
On quiet wings the dragon circled round and out of the dragon hangar and into the night sky. He turned east and set his wings in motion, carrying him up to fly in the calmer air above. They flew at a quick pace, racing through the sky to make it to the council grounds in decent time. He wanted to get there well before dawn but to manage that he would have to fly quickly and without breaks.
They flew with the dual moons and billions of stars overhead lighting the way. They passed over fields and rolling hills, forests and streams.
“We have to ensure no one is mucking about while our team is in there helping diplomacy. Keep a sharp eye out Xerrus,” David said to the night striker as they flew.
The dragon nodded, turning his head slightly to speak to the man on his shoulders. “I will.
Below the glittering light caught the dragon’s eye. He slowed momentarily and spotted shimmer drakes flitting around in a small clearing. They passed by them and carried on their journey.
“What do you make of all this, David?” asked Xerrus as they flew.
“I think there may be some understand tactics going on, from what Jack was saying. At least these dragons are smaller than you so you won’t be outmatched.” David replied back.
“That’s what you’re worried about?” tutted the shadow dragon, turning an amethyst eye towards the man.
David shook his head, “Of course not, I just want to help Forge and Jack succeed here, ensuring their safety and making sure no clans interfere or try anything,” The man called back over the sound of the wind.
“That is what we’re set to do, let’s hope we can achieve it.” Replied the dragon. The sky was just beginning to show signs of lightening along the horizon when Icarus touched down at the entrance of the council grounds.
He had spotted the silver dragon standing in the clearing around the entryway, noticing the large form of Vonriir dozing a short distance away.
“Early riser,” noted the night striker as he folded his wings.
“I always have been. I wanted to ensure you both made it here,” replied Forge.
Xerrus crouched to help David dismount from the saddle after such a long flight.
“Come, the others are still sleeping,” suggested Forge. “Queen Hitteki had arranged quarters for all of us.”
“Ah good. I won’t have to find some place to hide out during the day. Tell us about what you’ve learned so far,” Said Xerrus as he and David followed the silver dragon into the carved tunnels.

The next two days while the scouts went to the clans of Syrians to inform them of the urgent point of order, Khan spent the days he had with Forge, explaining the procedures and customs of the council and also giving him advice on the clans themselves.
It would be a lot to take in but Khan was a calm and patient teacher with Forge being a cool and collected dragon, peace keeper and skilled diplomat as Khan explained the meetings, the procedures and the tactics of the politics of the council.
Jack checked up from time to time as Ardon and him patrolled the area, with the large crag back keeping guard, Xerrus and David would patrol the dark corridors and tunnels of the council as well as patrol the night’s sky to ensure the KSA team was safe.
David along with his night striker was determined to keep the night skies clear and safe, as well as check the surrounding lands so Forge had the time needed with elder Khan for the teachings of the Syrian council.
It seemed there was so much to learn in such a short space of time, with tensions running high, one false move could be pounced upon by different clans which could sway the vote towards a rejection of Queen Hitteki’s motion.
That was made Jack worry, if Forge did not play the tune right, their request for mediation could be thrown out, pleasing the mountain dragons who would continue to bully other clan members to gain control of the council, that could not be allowed to happen.

The day of the official gathering, Khan rose early as Forge attended an early morning session to go over what they had crammed in the last two days, the council traditions, rules, etiquette and how the whole voting process worked, as well as how to word things to ensure the clans who were not intimidated by mountain clan yet to swing towards Hitteki’s urgent point of order.
Khan went through everything and gave Forge some pointers to make the council systems and rules work in his advantage in this diplomatic game, Forge seemed appreciative of the sound words of advice from the elder and how he spent time giving as much information as possible to him.
"This is key information, thank you for letting me in on how this whole process works. It is my hope that I will be able to help in some way." Replied Forge
Khan nodded his head lightly in response to the silver’s comments.
"It will Forge, knowing how to use your tongue to say the same thing in different tunes to gain support from the clans, it is a fine art" Khan explained.
Forge nodded, "nearly 500 years in service to Talkiir, I hope that we will be able to soothe tensions and get everything in peaceful order once more,."
This comment gave Khan a small smile.
"So you be familiar with diplomacy Forge, it will be important here" Khan advised.
"I have no other means than that. I have no desire to rule the court or council." Replied the silver.
Khan agreed with the silver’s comments on this front.
“It is important that you make your case before the mountain clan get in, they may try and speak over you or use other underhand tactics, I can call them to order if they do” Khan said.
"Thank you" Forge said with a nod. "My voice carries. I think I can raise it enough to have others take notice."
The old Syrian dragon chuckled lightly.
" I do not doubt it, we will greet the clans as they arrive, I think that will send a message, plus the Crag back" Khan replied, remembering the dragon from outside.
"I don't know if he could get him down here. His dorsal spikes are difficult to pass through narrow tunnels” replied the silver.
Khan nodded lightly.
“Ah yes, he is a mighty big Crag back, they do not get to that size, if I recall..my mind is not what it use to be” Khan said shaking his head lightly, in a vain attempt to clear the fogginess from his mind.
"He has western dragon in his blood as well, which is likely why you recall differently" said Forge kindly.
Khan seemed to smile to himself.
“Ahh, so best of both worlds I see, well we best head to the entrance and greet the clans, You friends Jack and Ardon will be collecting the votes in, ensuring total neutrality in this matter, then they will count the votes in front of the council so there is no meddling with the votes stones” Khan explained as he got up on shaky legs and slowly made his way out of his chambers.
Forge rather liked that idea.
"That will be good. Transparency throughout so that no one will be able to think that anyone could possibly cheat."
Khan nodded as the two of them walked towards the entrance.
“Usually the forest and Desert clan will be here first, expect a lot of mountain clan Forge, they seem to like to intimidate, you easily spot them” Khan said.
"I will be sure to recognize them," forge assured the old dragon.
The two dragons made their way to the entrance, Khan was slower to get there than Forge but the silver was find enough to stay at his pace as they reached the entrance.
Vonriir was there, standing guard and so was Melina and Jack who greeted the two dragons.
Ardon soon arrived, landing and folding his wings in saying he had seen movement in the distance and that the dragons were on their way.
“Lets see how this goes” Jack said to Melina who nodded, nodding up to Forge with a reassuring smile.
Soon the first dragons arrived, however they were not the ones Khan said they were, it was the mountain dragons, light brown scales, silver fur going down their backs, larger horns and sharper claws, they were also larger and muscular dragons.
Jack clearly saw that working in the mountains with ores and metals seemed to have bulked their physique, their wings were larger as well, the man could see how they could bully other Syrians just by their physical presence.
Forge, Vonriir and Ardon stood off to the side of the entrance to welcome the arrivals to the council.
"I thought you said they didn't expect the mountain clan first..." said Ardon quietly.
"That is what Khan had anticipated, apparently, we have been mistaken." said Forge in a low voice before the group arrived.
"Welcome," said the grand silver dragon, setting the tone. "We hope your journey was fair."
The Mountain dragons looked at the others indifferently as their leader approached, the dragon was the largest Syrian there, tall, muscles showing under brown scales, he looked very powerful for a Syrian.
This leader was slightly taller than Ardon and seemed a strong dragon, Jack had to give respect where it was needed, he now knew why this brute commanded such fear compared to the other clans, he was a giant to the others.
Khan cleared his throat and spoke as the leader approached with a large company of mountain dragons nearby.
“This is the leader of the Mountain clan Forge and guests, this is Lord Orestes of the Mountain clan” Khan introduced him.
"I am Forge, this is Vonriir and my nephew Ardon." He replied with the briefest of nods.
Orestes snorted in displeasure.
“Why have outsiders been brought to our sacred council hall you foolish old dragon” he said abruptly.
"You should have greater respect for your elders," said Forge, careful not to make it sound like an order. "We have been invited as third party mediators."
Orestes frowned but refrained from growling.
“I see, so what are you to mediate?, I find it odd we call for foreigners to our chamber, as well as the strange two legged creatures” “ Orestes said giving a look at Jack and Melina.
"We are here on behalf of Comhaltas to help mediate as unbiased members of Talkiir," forge confirmed.
Khan nodded.
“All shall be revealed in the meeting my lord, for now we wait for the other clans to arrive, I hope you know the rules of our chamber” the old dragon said.
“Of course…elder, we shall see if these, third party helpers will last in the vote” Orestes said giving Forge a glare before leaving with the other mountain dragons in the chamber.
“A rather abrupt and rude leader” Melina said to Forge and the others who agreed with light nodding.
"Tactics. He's trying to be intimidating, and seem like he is not threatened by our presence, but I won't have any of it," said Forge, raising his head proudly.
“He is a cunning one Forge, do not doubt that about him, with a comment like that, trying to lull you into a false sense of security” Khan said quietly to the silver.
“He seems switched on to me” Jack added folding his arms.
"Well we know better," said Forge. "We, hopefully, have the upper hand for now. It was obviously a surprise that we were here to mediate the council."
Melina nodded lightly as the water clan were next to appear were the water clan, again Syrian build but they were more of a qua green colour with fins instead of fur to help them swim, with powerful tails but smaller wings.
They were the smaller of the Syrians as they greeted the dragons and scurried in, seemingly wanting to speak with the mountain dragons.
The others arrived again Melina noted their differences in sketches and writing on her pad, making scribbles and notes of the different breeds as the desert and Ice Syrians arrived, again she noted the different coloured scales and unique markings and designs.
Soon Queen Hitteki arrived with her compliment of dragons as Jack and the others smiled.
"Welcome back, your majesty. Forewarning, the mountain clan has already made an appearance." Said Ardon.
The queen nodded.
“They must of gotten wind of your appearance before the messengers, it’s a tactic to bully the other clans, I suggest we make tracks and move to business quickly” Hitteki said.
"I agree, Queen Hitteki, before they get up to anything," replied Forge.
The group soon made their way towards the main chamber as Khan spoke to Forge.
“The Ice and water dragons have special areas where they are so they can keep in the cold and the water, make sure you use this to your advantage to pause proceedings, just in case the Mountain clan want to drag their heels or use diplomacy tactics to cause a stir, use the council care of all Syrians code so the ice dragons and Water Clan can go to their alcoves for an hour” Khan advised the silver.
Forge nodded, "understood, thank you elder Khan. I appreciate your input."
“We best get below before the mountain clan can manipulate any potential vote” Jack said as the dragons and humans walked back inside, leaving Vonriir to keep watch on the entrance of the chambers as the others descended down to the main council chamber for the gathering to begin.

Forge and the others followed Elder Kahn as he slowly lead them down towards the council chambers. They could hear voices rising up through the tunnels as the clans began to gather. Ardon was a little nervous how about all of this would go down but Forge, as always, seemed calm and collected. No worry showed on his face but inside he was ensuring he had his thoughts in order.
Vonriir had been left to wait outside, he had wished them luck before the group had disappeared through the entryway.
"Hopefully Orestes has not corrupted many Syrians, it is always a worry he swings a lot of clout in the council chambers" Khan said to the silver as they walked.
“We will hopefully level the playing field and let everyone have equal say in the matter,” replied Forge.
They walked down and down, back through the intricately decorated tunnels. The silver ensured Melina stayed close where he could see her.
"Is there a specific way I should address the council when I begin, something that might put me in a favourable light to begin with?" he asked.
Quick on his feet, Ardon supplied a word and Kahn seemed to approve. Forge nodded at his nephew, impressed at what the young gold had proposed. The group paused just outside the entrance to the council hall. Kahn turned to speak with them one last time in private before they entered.
"I can get you to put a speech out now, I can make an introduction and call the council to order" he replied back.
“Alright,” nodded Forge. The silver dragon quickly turned to Melina, "Please stand to my right when we are waiting together. When I am on the speakers platform stand with Jack and Ardon please," said the silver in a low tone as he looked down at her.
"No problem Forge, I can do that,” she nodded.
“Remember,” said Forge, addressing the group, “What Elder Kahn told us to do. Let’s head in.”
Forge followed the old dragon in, followed by the others, and lead to their guests seats.
The dragons sat down in the grand chamber was certainly a sight to see, the different coloured Syrians all sat down on the rounded stones. The centre of the chamber was left for the speaker of the council and any guests or proposals, the chamber was lit well and the Water and Ice Syrians held their positions close to the edge so they could go to their alcoves. However the brown mountain clan seemed to be spreading with their seats and were eating into other Syrian seats.
The forest clan seemed to be the only ones were weren’t unfazed by the presence of the mountain dragons and humans. Queen Hitteki had obviously filled them in on why they were present which seemed to bolster the group a bit.
Forge and Ardon, as well as their Attilus sat in their section, looking out to the dragons who stared at them with mixed feelings. Soon enough Elder Kahn walked up to the speaker’s platform and the room went quiet.
"Members of the council, thank you for your attendance and gathering with such haste, the urgent point to order has been called by the forest Clan who have asked for third party mediation and support from our guests here, Forge the silver, many will of you will of heard his name over these lands and beyond, he is here with humans Jack and Melina, along with Ardon and Vonriir from our friends the Cragbacks, who you may have passed outside." Khan said his voice loud and clear as the other Syrians listened, some more willing than others. "I shall now hand the floor to Forge who will put forward the proposition to be voted on" Khan said.
The silver dragon walked up to the speaker’s platform, passing elder Kahn and giving him a respectful bow of the head as he did so. Looking around at the audience the silver noted that all eyes on him. He could see the defiance in the mountain dragon clan and fear amongst the others.
Raising his head, the dragon’s silver scales glittered in the soft torch light.
“An honour it is, to be standing here in your magnificent court. As Elder Kahn said, my name is Forge, son of Rezkiel. I have been called here, as well as my companions from Comhaltas, to help mediate this council meeting and find a peaceful accord between the clans. An old human word, Comhaltas, and from what I am told, means unity, peace and brotherhood. This is what I hope for you all on this day.”
Melina smiled proudly, staying where she was but feeling pride and hope rise within her, Forge was an amazing speaker and a keen diplomat, she knew he was the best dragon for this challenge.
The silver saw a few hopeful looks in the water clan but he knew a few fancy words were only just the beginning.
“My Kalian,” said forge, capturing the attention of many dragons, using the old Drakine collective word for friend, used only in great respect, “I come here not to override your rules, your council, nor culture or tradition. I come not to overrule your decisions or interests. I have come, hearing the call of the distressed. It is my greatest hope to help you all find balance and harmony amongst each other. I have seen nearly 500 summers and in those years I have seen many things. Conflict, war, grief and pain. Let us not continue that cycle. I want to help bring the clans to a Halcyon age.”
His words seemed to cause the clan members to stir and murmur amongst themselves.
Forge turned to see that Vonriir had somehow made it through the tunnels and he stepped out to his full height now that he made it to the council chambers. A rush of whispers went out through the crowd as they recognized his crag back features. The breed was rare and many of the Syrians had not seen their ally breed for years as the population had grown sparse in the area. Vonriir bowed low, his horns almost touching the ground in great respect.
“You may recognize my friend, and brother in peace as one with Cragback blood. Ancient allies of the Syrians, know that he would never do you wrong nor wish any ill will to fall across the clans. May his presence be a reminder of how his kind where great guardians and protectors of yours. We ask you, humbly, to allow us to mediate your council and help you all and your clans, find prosperous and joyous years ahead.”
Forge gave a wing flourished bow and stepped back to his spot beside Melina, letting out a breath, hoping in his head that this would work.

Khan stepped forward as Forge bowed out, Khan had been impressed with the tone and language used by the silver dragon, it seemed to light hope it some of the dragons however the mountain dragons seemed to look in defiance and displeasure at the comments.
Khan cleared his throat and spoke.
“To explain this point of order I have her majesty Queen Hitteki of the Forest clan” Khan said as the green dragoness stood up and walked towards an elevated stone where she would speak to the other members of the council.
Jack thought it all reminded him of a Greek style democracy and perhaps the UK parliamentarian style system.
“Council members, I have called an urgent point to order due to a recent transgression by the mountain clan, my group heading to meet representatives from the desert and Ice clans was attacked by the mountain dragons, some of my dragons were hurt badly and thanks to Comhaltas and Jack, they are being healed, I have called on Comhaltas to come and mediate disagreements between our clans and cease hostilities” Hitteki said as the mummering’s and chatter came from the other Syrians.
Hitteki gave way so Orestes could speak, the dragon had not batted an eyelid upon the accusation of the attack on Hitteki’s royal convoy.
“I Believe the Queen is hastily jumping to conclusions, the mountain clan would never attack a fellow clan without provocation or a threat to our own homes and existence, I can confirm however that some bored youths from our clan did engage in a hostile act towards forest clan which must be the group you were in, they have been apprehended and will be punished accordingly” Orestes said as more mumblings could be heard as Hitteki seemed frustrated by the large clan leader.
Jack, Ardon and Melina watched from the outskirts, the man keeping his eyes open as he watched the debate, unsurprisingly the water clan said they were the ones to report it to Orestes and they concur with the mountain dragons on the report.
"They can make up a story like to appease everyone. How do we know it's true?" Asked Ardon in a whisper.
Jack leaned to where Ardon was to keep their talk to a whisper.
"It isn’t, Orestes can say what he likes, look how the water clan and some of the earth Syrians are nodding nervously in agreement" Jack whispered back to the gold dragon.
"Can't the other clans object if they want proof?" replied Ardon.
"We have to see what happens, watch the other clans carefully, its all about body language and studying how they might vote" Jack replied to Ardon, asking him to use his observational skills in this sensitive matter.
The gold nodded in response, straightening up and looking out into the crowd.
The team watched the debate go on as Orestes seemed to swing the debate in their favour, the mountain dragon was playing them all and despite the desert supporting Hitteki and shared her outrage, the mountain clan repeated the tone and explanation, with the water clan’s backing.
The great silver could see how the uneasiness rippled through the water clan. He fixed his fiery eyes on Orestes, knowing how he was twisting words to sway the council.
The mountain clan leader took to the stand once more, now going for a direct tactic, since it seemed any further debate on Hitteki’s point seemed mooted for now.
“We have always prided ourselves and this hall on debate and coming together, what I have said has been the truth, I regret the turn of events and wish Queen Hitteki’s soldiers a speedy recovery, we are dealing with the troublesome youths” he said as the water clan stamped their left paws on the stone slabs in acknowledgement.
“I propose this vote be rejected and dropped, there is no need for an external mediation and there is no need for Forge or his team to be here, we managed to settle our differences without foreign interference, I advise the council to reject it”. Orestes said firmly, getting the approval of the other members and unsurprisingly the water clan.
Forge frowned, letting Orestes know with a fiery look.
Orestes looked at him with a sly smile appearing at the corners of his mouth as the two now played a battle of wills and a test of diplomacy.
Khan finally returned and spoke to the clans.
“The debate is now over, I will ask for a brief 10-minute pause and then we will vote on it, our independent mediators Jack and Ardon will be counting for us” Khan said as the council erupted into chatter among the clans.
Khan made his way towards Forge and so did the others from Comhaltas as they discussed their next plan.
"What do you make of the initial reaction, Elder Khan?" asked Forge as he sat down next to Vonriir and Ardon.
“Orestes is on form it seems, he seems to have the whole of the water clan with him, plus some of the earth Syrians are yielding to his argument” Khan explained.
“It’s what I feared, he knows how to play this game Forge” Jack said.
"What can Forge do to swing things back over our way?" asked Vonriir.
Khan shook his head.
“Sadly, your actions are limited until the vote is passed, once you are voted in as mediators you have powers then, until then you just come in to pitch your bit” Khan advised.
Forge nodded, "Understood. I will do my best to win them over." he replied to the old dragon.
It was only a short time before the council members returned to their seats.
“Moment of truth, Jack, Ardon take your positions to collect the voting counts” Khan instructed the two of them.
“Got it” Jack said as he hung two baskets on Ardon’s harness to collect the coloured stones to count them.
The gold dragon stepped forward towards the crowd to make his way through and gather the votes
Jack and Ardon began to take the stones from each Syrian council member, the dragons had two coloured stones, the green for yes and a reddish one for no, Jack collected the stones and put them in the relevant baskets that Ardon carried.
“Moment of truth now Forge” Melina said quietly to the silver and Vonriir.
"Have faith, professor." said Forge quietly. "There are many who want our help. We just need to hope that they are brave enough to ask."
Melina nodded watching as Jack and Ardon now reached the mountain dragon’s side of the chamber.
Jack went forward to collected the votes, he felt the eyes of the mountains bore into him with dissatisfied looks upon their faces, as he collected the votes some of the mountain dragons were coming awfully close to Jack, then a few stared to growl lowly as Jack tried to collect votes.
The gold's hackle scales lifted defensively. "Stand back. We will come to you for the votes," he said, the hint of a growl in his voice.
“A foreigner collecting our votes, disgraceful” one mountain dragon said.
Another growled at Ardon, then another at Jack who seemed hesitant to collect their votes as they were trying to shake Jack up a little.
Ardon bared his teeth at the mountain dragon, he had enough and would not stand for the others trying to intimidate Jack.
"Enough," Forge's voice suddenly boomed through the chamber, cracking like thunder. "We ask that you respect this sacred place. Let us be civil."
Khan nodded lightly.
“Let them collect your votes please or you won’t be voting, now get your members in order Orestes” Khan warned as the leader nodded to the others who settled down.
The two of them collected the votes and the water dragons were swift in handing their votes over as Jack returned with Ardon to Khan who inspected the baskets.
“Our helpers will now count the votes in the corner there, the council is in recess till the counting has been finished, thank you” Khan said as the council members talked as Jack, along with Melina began counting the stones.
"Don't let them intimidate you," said Ardon quietly with a hint of a growl in his voice. "I won't let anything happen."
Jack nodded lightly as he seemed to be a little quieter than normal as he petted Ardon on the snout, he counted silently with Melina giving Forge a concerned look.
"It will be fine. It's all part of their plan. If they think they can scare us off they should think again," rumbled the silver.
Jack nodded lightly, looking up at the silver.
“I know, just never experienced being crowded by dragons with very sharp teeth and the dislike they have for us” Jack replied.
"Mine are sharper," grumbled Ardon, obviously not pleased that Jack had been subject to the other dragons intimidation.
“Let’s get this counted and get the announcement done” Melina said getting things back on track as Jack seemed to brighten in his mood as the man counted.
It took about 20 minutes much to the mountain dragons annoyance however they had a result which Khan would announce.
The dragons soon made their way to their seats as the dragons watched Khan keenly, the Mountain dragons watched carefully with Orestes keeping his eyes locked on the elder.
“The results have been counted by our neutral representatives and checked by myself to verify the process, votes for accepting third party medication in the current disputes between our clans and to proceed with diplomatic and neutral talks, the Yes votes are 63, the No’s 57, this means that this council has voted for Forge and his team from Comhaltas to proceed in being our mediators for the current disputes” Khan said as Orestes gave a gesture to his adviser as the mountain dragons departed as the session was over.
Forge straightened up a bit, hearing that he barely managed to gain enough votes. Still, it was the result they needed to help.
Ardon and Vonriir exchanged a relieved look.
Jack also seemed relieved at the result, it seemed that the mountain dragons had a far reaching grip on the council than they thought, still now this hurdle was passed, the hard work would begin.

"Thank you all, there will be another meeting in 2 days’ time, please stay close as Forge will be hosting the council chamber" Khan said as the remainder of the dragons now dispersed. Ardon Forge and Vonriir remained where they stood, watching the dragons go. The mountain clan seemed greatly displeased and had been the first to leave moments after the votes had been announced.
"Any words of wisdom after that close vote, elder Kahn?" Asked Vonriir kindly, looking down at the old dragon.
"I expected as much, it shows how influential the mountain clan are with the other clans, as you noticed they tried a tactic with your human companion," Khan replied.
"It didn't work. Jack has been around dragons long enough to know when one is bluffing," replied Ardon firmly, puffing up at the disrespect the others had dared to show.
"I must Urge caution on this Orestes will continue tactics and I keep the humans close by" Khan advised.
"Of course," Nodded Forge. "Thank you again, Kahn. We will see you tomorrow. Come on, let us go find Xerrus and David and let him know the result." He said to the other dragons.
"Let's inform them" Melina said sticking close to Forge as Jack walked with Ardon.

In a darkened hold the night striker was sleeping away the day so that he would be prepared to go out during the quiet of night on patrol. David heard the sound of the talons and shoes headed their way.
"Xerrus, we have the team coming best wake up buddy" David said with a yawn himself.
“I’m up,” said the dragon, getting up to his feet and shaking himself awake. “The vote is over?” he asked, already knowing the answer.
“Xerrus, David, you’re up,” said Forge as they approached.
“Yeah, how’d it go?” asked the dark dragon.
“We won the vote,” replied the silver, “Though just barely. The mountain clan certainly had their hold on the other groups. They are obviously fearful about repercussions. It will take a lot of work to ensure that the mountain clan doesn’t let their methods of persuasion take over the others. We have at least 63 in our favour. I know there are others but they are too afraid to say otherwise.”
“Only Sixty three,” replied Xerrus, shaking his head.
"That was a close call" David said as Melina nodded and Jack spoke. "I hope there is no more underhand tactics" the man said folding his arms.
“We have to be careful and keep our wits about us,” said Vonriir as the others nodded.
“I’ll keep a sharp eye and a keen ear out tonight on our post. Maybe there is something we might overhear that will help us along.”
The silver nodded, “Yes, Anything would be helpful. Anyway, let us all get some rest.”
The group agreed, sending Xerrus and David off while the others returned to the holds that they had been given by Kahn.
In the large stone room, Forge lay on the ground, paws crossed with Melina curled up to sleep in a blanket against his side.
He didn’t seem to relax, staring out into the dim room, not getting any of the rest he had suggested.

"Forge...are you ok my silver?" Melina asked quietly.

“I am preparing the things I plan to say on the next council meeting. I want to make sure my words strike the right chord. The mountain clan are so close to unsetting the tables. That is something I don’t want to let happen,” he replied.
"You get it right I'm sure Forge, you’re a proven diplomat, you do your best....am I worrying you? She asked.
“No, why would you be?” he asked her.
"I get a feeling we might be the weak link to you" Melina said quietly.
He knew she meant being an Attilu, “No, it is a great strength to be bonded. I just want to get this right. We have one chance to fix all of this. I just worry I might misstep and lose it all.”

As the night drew on, Melina slept against Forge’s side, Ardon had curled protectively over Jack, ensuring the man was safe, no one could get him without going through the golden protector.
The silver dragon shifted over and used his paws to draw Melina closer to his side protectively, ensuring Melina was in the same safety as Jack was with his nephew.
Melina stirred and woke up, feeling movement and change in temperature as she noticed she was close to his chest scales.
"You ok Forge? I wasn’t cold" Melina said not knowing the real reason.
"I know. I just want to make sure..." he paused. "I need to ensure you're safe."
Melina gave a small smile.
“I feel safe, but I do not want the mountain dragons looking for weaknesses with our strategy, I think we are the weak links, though they have hell to play, I’m no weak human” Melina said, fire in her voice.
"I know, dragon slayer," said Forge. "They would have to get past your guardian first before being subjected to your wrath."
Melina chuckled lightly as she looked up at Forge.
“Your not too bad yourself Silver” she teased lightly with a grin.
The old dragon chuckled softly, "ah well I have to live up to the fire in my Attilu's heart, so."
Melina smiled but she heard steps and rustling outside the cavern they were residing in, Melina looked but could see nothing but the flickering of the flames from the torch outside.
"Stay," the dragon commander Melina before getting to his feet and peering outside the cavern entrance.
Melina nodded moving to the one side and staying out of sight as Forge investigated.
Soon as the silver was out there was a small noise made.
“Pssst…to your left, walk slowly and pretend to get a drink from the pool” came a voice.
The dragon heard her instructions and let out an acted sigh, turning to his left and lowered his head towards the pool but kept his Orange eyes searching the dark.
Soon a head appeared out of the water, scales an aqua green, fins on its head and sides, it was a water clan dragon.
“Don’t be alarmed, its safer to do this, keep taking a drink, I have information you might need, if I’m discovered I be killed” the water dragon said keeping low in the pool of water.
Forge lapped at the water, "killed? By who?"
“You know who, they are planning on making your negotiations fail, they are threatening to use their new threat to the clans, its terrifying the other clans” the water dragon said quietly.
"New threat?" Asked forge quietly.
The water dragon nodded.
“The mountain dragons have designed and built something, from the metal ores in their lands, whatever it is terrifying my clan and the earth clan, even some in other clans are beginning to yield to them…you need to be aware of this” the water dragon whispered.
"Do you know what it is? A weapon?" Inquired the silver, trying to get as much info as possible.
The little dragon shook his head.
“I do not know, but I will find out, whatever it is, it gives the mountain dragons even more of an advantage than they already have over the rest of the clans, I find out and I do the same again” the dragon said to the silver.
"Good. Thank you. Fear not. I won't let the mountain clan over rule yours. Band together your kin and stand strong. Comhaltas is with you."
“Keep your human’s safe Forge, Orestes is cunning, do not underestimate him, my name is Uetto…we shall talk soon” the small dragon said before disappearing into the water.

Forge checked to see if there was anyone else watching, luckily there was no one about as the silver dragon walked back into the cavern where the others and Melina were based.
Melina seemed pleased that Forge returned.
“What was it?” Melina asked the silver as Forge sat down, the boys were totally unaware and slept soundly deeper in the chamber.
"A dragon from the water clan. They're scared but risked the chance to speak with me.
Apparently, the mountain clan have crafted ... something sinister. They are using whatever it is to rein over weaker clans."
Melina scratched her head and folded her arms.
"We have to tread carefully, we can't risk diplomacy failing but we can't have the mountain dragons bully the others" Melina said to the silver.
"It's progressed from more than just mere bullying, Melina. I fear lives might be in danger." Replied the dragon.
“Then we must ensure the talks go smoothly, which I know they will, we best get some sleep, David and Xerrus will be back soon” Melina said as the two of them settled back down.

Forge didn’t sleep much of the rest of the night. He had thought much of what the water dragon had said. He tried to think of what the mountain clan could have possibly created to use against the other clans, to force them to submit to their ruling. He knew that the mountain clan were metal crafters so he figured it would likely relate to that somehow. Recollecting stories that Melina had told him, he tried to think of weapons or other things that they might have designed.
With humans on Kilara, there was a chance it could have sparked inspiration in the Mountain dragons, thought what, he didn’t know. He wished that Uettl had been able to tell him more during his short conversation. The dragon had risked his life to contact Forge and the silver knew he couldn’t begrudge him for only being able to share a short amount, needing to return before it was noticed he was missing.
Xerrus had come in from his night patrol no news. He and David had not seen anything unusual during their sweeps overhead nor in the tunnels. It had been a quiet night in the common areas.

“Melina, would you join me to go speak with the other clans?” asked Forge after she had washed and dressed. The next morning.
"Of course I will help where I can Forge" Melina said with a smile.
“It is my hope that someone else has more information. We will see what we can gather from talking with them. Kahn said because we are a third party we are allowed to converse with the clans as we see fit, as long as they agree.”
"That will be very handy to do, might get any cause and concerns out but what about the influence of the mountain clan?" she asked.
"We will cross that bridge when we get to it. I can only ask for audience, whether or not the clans grant it is up to them... or the mountain clan if we consider the water dragons. I will make my intentions known. If the mountain clan leader has issue with it, I will then speak with him." He said firmly.
"Ok Forge, I support and help you in anyway I can" Melina smiled, giving encouragement to the silver.
“Thank you melina,” replied the dragon, lowering his nose to her. “Let us get underway.”

They sought out Queen Hitteki first, knowing that she might have had word from the other clans. They already were on the same standing so it would be the best place to begin.
“Your Majesty,” said Forge with a bow of his head, “Professor Goodwin and I are to speak with the clans today. See if we can figure out what is behind all of this and hopefully turn more towards defying the mountain clan, though I anticipate that to be a difficult venture.”
Queen Hitteki nodded in agreement, "Yes, the vote was allot closer than I thought, which means they have more influence over our fellow clans than I thought" the queen replied back.

“I have been given word that the mountain clan has devised some sort of…weapon perhaps? Something that is giving them advantage over the others. It is their creation that is allowing them to bully the others without backlash though I haven’t discovered what it is as of yet.”
"Hrmm, I had a feeling they were up to something, I sadly do not know what they have made but you can see, they are the crafter's of the Syrian species, very unique and handy" Hitteki explained.
“Yes, that we have come to learn.” Nodded the silver.
"Any chance you can speak to the other clans allied to you or the ones on friendly terms?” Melina asked the queen.
"I shall speak with the desert and Ice clan leaders but I fear I cannot talk to the water clan and now the earth clan without the mountain dragons being there" Hitteki explained to the professor. Having the earth clan fall to the mountain clan was yet another issue they had to deal with but Forge wouldn’t give up hope.
"I plan on speaking with them, or at least attempting. If the mountain clan puts a halt to it. I can perhaps try to figure out what is going on. Speaking to them might be as inlightening,” said the male.
"That would be wise, I urge caution Forge, they will be looking to manipulate the votes and to work around you as the problem" Hitteki warned.
Forge bowed his head again, “I am nothing but cautious. I want the best for you and yours, Queen Hitteki. We will do our best to achieve that. We will talk again soon.”
With another bow he and Melina left the forest clan holds.
"I wish to go find Ardon and Jack, I want you to stay with them while I speak to the other clans."
"Ok Forge I can do that, no worries" Melina said, ensuring Forge would not be on the defensive and give him the best chance in the mediation.
“Thank you, Melina,” he replied, relieved that she had no protested. He did not want to have to worry about her in the presence of the disgruntled mountain clan.

Once he had ensured that Melina was safe in the care of his nephew, Jack and Vonriir, Forge made his way through he network of tunnels and headed towards the earth clan first, set on seeing how this attempt at speaking with them would go.

Forge would first go to where the Earth clan was stationed, the council chambers were designed to house all the clan representatives, the chambers were catered to the clan’s needs and the symbols of the clans were marked on the grand tunnels and walls of the chambers in this complex tunnel network.
It was indeed day 1 of Forge’s third party mediation, Khan had explained his role and what things he could and could not do, he was now part of the great working machine of democracy and politics in the Syrian world.
As Forge approached he would see the earth dragon clan leader speaking with the large Mountain Syrian Orestes, the dragon also had guards by them, who moved forward to intercept the silver.
"Orestes," Forge acknowledged the dragon as he stopped and stood before him.
"I hope all is well."
The silver would give the leader no satisfaction by keeping a neutral temper which is exactly what he planned.
Orestes turned and saw Forge standing by the door way, he approached as his guards stood firm despite the obvious size difference.
“Our mediator, I’m afraid I am having a private conversation with the earth clan leader so I am afraid he is unavailable to talk, so is the water clan, I have a meeting with shortly” the mountain dragon replied.
"I can wait, of course. I wouldn't dare interrupt. I'll come back in a few minutes," said Forge with confidence.
Orestes smiled lightly as the earth dragon clan leader came out, he looked normal but Forge would tell there was fear in his eyes ands seemed wary of Orestes.
“I’m afraid I wont be speaking with you alone, not without our allies the mountain dragons” the earth leader said.
“As I said Forge, there will be no meetings here, I am sorry you wasted your time coming here, hope you enjoyed the walk, I been informed keeping active at an older age is good for the joints” Orestes replied.
Ignoring most of what the dragon said, Forge retained his calm tone, "well why don't I join you to speak with the water clan. As mediator, I would like fair representation between all clans. Besides, I had wished to talk with you as well, Orestes."
Orestes did not seem to appreciate this tone and Forge’s tactics.
“You can speak with me when I am free, I am currently not, plus these are private conversations that I do not require your permission nor should you be there, I suggest you find other uses for your time” the mountain leader replied back.
"I never said you needed my permission. You are awfully defensive. My purpose is only to help. Part of my role is speaking with the clans from a neutral ground," the dragon said with a small smile.
“actually, I think I will have that meeting with you now, come with me, you can talk with the other clans later, if they are willing to talk to you of course” Orestes said out of the blue.
"Oh, well alright. If I am not dragging you away from your plans," said Forge, moving aside for him to lead the way
Orestes seemed to smile.
“Of course not, please follow” the leader said but he would notice the mountain dragons surrounded him as the leader walked close by.
“It was a very narrow victory for your request wouldn’t you say Forge” Orestes said as they walked towards the mountain chambers.
"It was, I am pleased to be here, however. It is a point of pride for me, helping better Kilara and it's inhabitants." Replied the silver.
Orestes hummed lightly at the comment as they continued to walk towards the mountain clan’s chambers.
“What is the Comhaltas policy on interference with politics of other dragon’s affairs?” he quizzed.
"We've abided by our rules and policies on such matters," replied Forge, not quite wanting to say that someone had spoken out against the mountain clan, "what are yours regarding bullying other clans to suit your needs?"
Orestes looked up at the silver dragon.
“What are you suggesting Forge, that sort of comments are not welcome and very accusatory in nature, I hope that was merely a question and not an allegation against us” Orestes said.
"Take it as a question if that suits you. I have seen nearly 500 seasons, and during such a time one learns to be observant. And during my short time here in these calls I couldn't help. It notice how other clans cower to you. Seems strange doesn't it? Unless I'm not understanding something here. If that is so, I wouldn't might being enlightened, Orestes."
Orestes laughed as they now entered the mountain dragons chambers, eyes of the brown dragons glued onto Forge as he entered, they seemed to be making the silver feel or try to feel less comfortable.
“Please come into my personal chambers, we can discuss things in private” Orestes said gesturing for Forge to come on in.
The silver dragon followed and sat down, calmly wrapping his tail about him.
Orestes nodded as the mountain dragon escort he had moved away, the dragon seemed to command respect among the others and being as large as he was was quite intimidating to other Syrians.
“I think we may have gotten off on the wrong paw Forge, it is not healthy to ask such accusing questions, I am sure you are aware and seen how important the mountain clan is to Syrian society” Orestes said.
"I am aware but as an outsider I have concerns when I see others act fearful in the shadow of their clan and," he paused, "when it seems like the interests of the water and earth clans seem to be being misplaced. I don't mean to accuse, just learn. I worry when I can fear the tension and fear in a room."
“Their concerns are being well represented here Forge, they seek closer cooperation with us on many issues, I am entitled to stand up for my allies on the council, these clans are close to our borders, unlike the forest, desert and Ice clans whole live further afield” Orestes countered.
“There is no fear here, merely nervousness of outsiders like yourself interfering in sensitive matters that do not concern you” the mountain dragon leader replied.
"Well," says the silver, "You do seem firm in what you tell me. I might be an outsider but I come with the intent of peace and good will, I assure you of that. You're certain that nothing is afoot here so I would guess that you wouldn't mind some friendly chatter between myself and the other clans in private, just to ease my own mind. A righteous and honest dragon such as yourself, Orestes, certainly couldn't object to that," smiled Forge.
Orestes smiled back.
“There is no issues here, the only issue was a group of bored youth’s who caused a disrespectful act, they have been caught and will face severe punishment under mountain clan codes, I have assured the queen of this, there is no need for your interference, but, since you are here all I can say is be careful how you tread no to upset..the delicate balance we have here” Orestes responded.
The mountain dragon had dodged his pointed comment. The silver dragon stood up, "I know where my talons fall, you need not warn me. Thank you for this very... interesting conversation. I will see you in the council chambers tomorrow." Replied forge, as he left the room.

Orestes watched Forge get up and turn to leave, he then decided to play his one of many tactical cards.
“You’re a bonded dragon aren’t you Forge, with that pretty little yellow haired female, Hylen Melina is that correct?” Orestes said.
Forge paused in the entryway. "I am." He said, turning his orange eyes to the dragon.
Orestes seemed to get a response he was looking for.
“I have heard many stories of the sacred bond of Brathille and Hylen Melina is well respected around it seems, I am sure your keeping a firm eye on her, ensuring her safety at all times” Orestes replied.
"It is a good thing you noticed. It would be a poor choice to get between a guardian and their attilu. A very poor choice." Rumbled forge turning and leaving, cursing the dragon under his breath.
“Make sure you keep her safe, accidents do happen” Orestes said in return a dark look appearing on his face.
"If you are stupid enough to be threatening her you better bite your tongue." Growled forge, turning back around.
Orestes seemed unfazed by the comment and change in tone.
“So defensive, I was merely saying that the chambers you are in are due for repair, I am sure you will be a fair and reasonable negotiator, just remember about delving too far into the rabbit hole Forge, I’m sure we speak again soon”
Forge made his way to the chamber where the humans were, he was in a more hurried pace as he entered, Melina looked around and smiled as she was chatting to Jack and Ardon, who seemed in good spirits.
"You have been alright?" Asked the silver, looking everyone over. "No one has disturbed you?"
Melina shook her head.
“no, all is well, no one has come and disturbed us, all been good, you alright Forge, you seem agitated” Melina asked.
"Ardon, I want you to take Melina and jack and go back to Comhaltas. I will send David and Xerrus with you."
"What why?" Asked Ardon.
"Orestes has made it clear that the humans won't be safe here as long as we are meddling in their affairs." Responded the silver.
Jack looked up at the silver concerned.
"What you mean?, has he threatened you?" Jack asked.
Melina seemed concerned, "You be on your own here without back up" She said.
"I will have Vonriir," replied Forge. "I don't want the rest of you here while I sort this out. He doesn't want me interfering and has hinted to the consequences if I stay." Said the dragon.
Melina looked at Jack who seemed to nod at Forge’s request, he had the experience and was running this operation, if he felt there was a danger then they have to act.
“We do as you say Forge, we head back to Comhaltas” Jack said as Melina wanted to protest but Jack shook his head.
“No Mel, if your dragon says there is danger and the mountain clan wants to target us to hold Forge to heel we must go” he replied assertively.
"Jack is right. I do not want any of you to be at risk. The mountain clan has made it clear that my continued interference will put you in danger. I will not allow that." said the silver.
Melina begrudgingly nodded.
“Ok Forge, we will pack up and head back, take the risk out of their paws” Melina said.
"Thank you, Melina," said Forge, a little softer. "I don't want to send you away but it would kill me if anything were to happen to you."
Melina nodded lightly, looking up to the silver.
“Just don’t take any **** from them Forge” Mel said out of the blue.
Jack seemed surprised, “Professor, language” he lightly teased.
Forge had to smile slightly at the woman's fire. "I assure you I won't leave this place until I am confident that the other clans are safe. Orestes will not threaten anyone soon enough."
As the humans began packing up Khan entered the chamber and gave a respectful bow, seeing the humans packing up.
“Am I intruding here?, what is going on?” Khan asked the silver dragon, watching Melina and Jack start to pack up bits.
"Elder Kahn," said Forge, turning to the dragon, "I am sending the humans away while we deal with the council. Orestes has made veiled threats regarding Melina. I don't want them at risk so long as I am here as mediator."
Khan seemed to have a troubled look upon his face.
“I see, I am afraid that the humans cannot leave, we had a request from leaders of water and earth clan, the humans are to continue being independent vote collectors for the council, they have insisted or they will walk away from talks” Khan said.
Forge cursed in drakine under his breath, pacing, "Orestes put them up to this." He growled.
“What does this mean?” Melina asked.
Jack put the stuff down and shook his head.
“We been set up, bwe cannot leave or talks will collapse, Orestes has us diplomatically locked in place.” Jack said with a heavy sigh.

The rest of the conversation had simply thrown the great silver into a terrible mood. There was no way of getting around it. Should he press for the humans to leave in safety, the whole plan would collapse. There was nothing that could be done. His wings were tied and he cursed Orestes to no end for it. When it was clear to see that they had no choice but to remain, Forge ordered the dragons to be vigilant and for the humans not to stray far. The protectiveness of the guardians now came through. Ardon, Xerrus and Forge were now on guard. Even Vonriir, though unbonded, kept a keen eye out.
Retiring back to their hold, Forge paced the room while Melina got ready to sleep. There was a lot on his mind, much of it anger and great dislike for Orestes. He hoped that Uetto would return and give him more information. He had very little to work with now that his efforts had been halted earlier.
"Hey Forge, sorry things have turned out like this, guess things with us are never simple" Melina said trying to quell the bad temper and mood she felt across the link.
"This is not your Fault," rumbled the dragon as he paced, staring at the ground before him.
"He wants to see you like this, so you throw in the towel, but don’t let him grind you down Forge, your the far bigger dragon, literally and metaphorically," Melina replied back.
"I know, I know. I managed to keep a level head until he mentioned you. In that moment I let down my wall, just for a second and he saw it. He knows, that poor excuse of a dragon. He knows how to manipulate others. He can bite his own tail if he thinks he will cross me. I- I just don't want you to be at risk..." he said with a sigh as he sat down.
"Its the risk we take, being bonded comes as a complete package, we be careful and keep on our toes, plus I got Ardy and Xerrus to offer protection, we be fine" Melina reassured the silver.
“And Vonriir too,” added Forge. “He’s resting in the hall to keep an eye on things. Xerrus and David will he guarding the council rooms as it has passage to all the clan quarters and we can hear them if they shout.”
The dragon grew silent for a moment, thinking. He got up and walked over to her before laying down in a protective circle about the professor.
"Just stay close, alright?" Said Forge, "I couldn't bear to see you hurt... or worse."
Melina nodded, "I will Forge, I will not let you down my silver, you can rest assured I keep my wits about me" Melina said with a smile.
The woman eventually fell asleep but the great dragon stayed awake, hoping, and waiting for word to come to him in some way. It was well past midnight when he finally did hear something that made the water ripple in the pool beyond.
"Pssst..to the water" came a voice to the silver.
"You've returned." Said the dragon quietly, getting to his feet and walking over.
"Yes but briefly, I cannot be away too long, Orestes has his clan around, his influence grows over the council, he is accelerating his plans" Uetto said.
"Tell me what you know. Anything can help your cause." Replied forge, urging for more information.
"I found out the mountain clan have taken inspiration from your human friends, they created something they call armour for their fighters" I Uetto told the silver.
"And this is how they've bullied the other clans. Is the mountain clan doing this simply for superiority over the others?" Inquired Forge. If the mountain clan had armoured plating, they would not be subject to attacks by the tooth and claw of other dragons. It gave them a terribly unfair advantage over the weaker, more peaceful groups. It sickened Forge to think of their conduct.
"With it their soldiers become even more of a challenge than they already are, gives them strategic influence over all clans" Uetto said. "They want to take full control of the council and increase their territory, Orestes has a large army of battle hardened Syrians, with this armour no one stands a chance" Uetto said
"Do you have any proof of this that I can use during the council meeting? I am struggling to help when the clans are even too afraid to speak up about these injustices. Orestes has blocked me from speaking to many of the clans, threatening them to silence." replied forge.
"I try but that will be very risky for me.....but I try Forge" He replied.
"I do not wish for you to risk yourself but I wish to help and I can't see any other way just yet. You are a brave dragon, Uetto. Your actions are helping lead your clan to a better future. You have us on your side, we will not give up on the clans," promised the great dragon, the truth was a fire in his eyes.
"I will try, I can't promise you as Orestes has a lot of influence over many clan members.”
“Do your best and I’ll do mine, Uetto. For now, go swiftly back to your quarters before you are found out. I will set a plan in motion to help you rid yourself of the oppression the mountain clan has put upon you.”
Forge watched the water dragon leave and he let out a breath, looking over his shoulder to Melina.
“Forge?” came Vonriir’s voice.
The silver dragon poked his head out of the entryway to see Vonriir looming close.
“I heard you talking, is everything alright?” he asked.
“No, it’s not, Vonriir. There is a lot of wrong to undo here…” grumbled Forge.
“Well, sire, I am at your service, as always. I will do everything I can to help.”
“You are a blessing from the stars, Vonriir, thank you.”

The next few days tested the old dragon’s diplomatic and mental resolve, the first day of meetings with the clan leaders together led to bickering, with the water and earth dragons ganging up on the forest, desert and Ice clans, claiming land and resources which had been solved ages ago.
Hitteki seemed taken aback by the claims, disputes and how these two felt against her point to order, the conversations got heated and needed Forge to calm the bickering clans.
Progress did not seem to come as diplomacy seemed to grind any real progress to a halt, despite Hitteki’s offer of compromise, there seemed to be no pleasing the water and earth Syrians, with threats of disbanding cooperation on hunting and other ventures making the whole atmosphere toxic between them.
There was only one clan who had played the passive and cool, calm and collected Syrians which was the mountain dragons, Orestes merely watched on as the others bickered over small and inconsequential things, Hitteki looking a little frustrated at all of this.
When Orestes did speak, the water clan and Earth Clan rallied behind his words, when suggestions were made, little glances at Forge made sure the mental games between the silver and the mountain continued, with him holding all the cards.
The humans were trapped there and if these talks were to continue the humans must remain to be official vote counters and ensure no foul play, something that was reiterated on the first day by Orestes and backed up by the other two.
Despite the slow progress and frustrating manner in which the mountain clan participated in the talks, forge demonstrated an unrelenting resolve.
By day 4 of the talks there seemed to be minor progress as Khan sat it in with the meeting as Forge tried to get bridges built, again it was slow with the influence of the mountain clan seemingly keeping the water and earth clan leaders in check and grinding the wheels of democracy to a halt, a tactic the mountain dragons knew how to do well.
Once the latest meeting was over Khan invited the queen and Forge to his chamber to discuss the progress so far, Hitteki seemed a little frustrated at the other two clan’s reluctance to move forward, yet jump when Orestes suggested things.
“Orestes is making the other two drag their feet, they brought up minor and old bickering over land, resources and other things that were solved long ago, yet he suggests something and they back him 100%, the talks have been going so slow” Hitteki said with a tired and exasperated look upon her emerald face.
"We need patience, your majesty," replied Forge sympathetically. "He is trying to wear us down with this nonsense. Don't let his plan take hold."
Khan nodded in agreement.
“Forge says the truth, you know Orestes can grind this place to a halt, why he is doing this remains a mystery but I know he is trying to wind Forge up so he can exploit the weakness on the democratic front” Khan replied.
"We will find a way above all this, queen Hitteki. I swear to you I won't leave these grounds without the resolution to this matter," vowed Forge.
Hitteki sighed, looking tired but nodded in agreement, “It has been a long few days, I shall retire to my quarters, see you tomorrow” the Queen said as she left the two males.
“The poor Queen is getting frustrated, I never seen the leaders of water and earth get so hostile over little things, yet Orestes sits there watching the show” Khan said to the silver.
"Orestes is playing them. They know that if they don't follow his plan it is disaster for them. Replied Forge.
Khan nodded sadly.
“It pains me to see such hostile manoeuvring and scheming against fellow Syrians, your resolve has been a real strength to these discussions, you have not wavered in the face of such adversity” Khan complimented the old dragon with a small smile.
"Thank you, Kahn. I will not stoop to his level, as much as it would help end this plot quickly. I want the clans to live in harmony. Not fear"
Khan nodded lightly in agreement, he was pleased that forge had shown such patience with the Syrians.
“Are your humans all safe in the chambers, I had put you there, to be further away from the mountain clan or the others, just in case” Khan replied.
"I appreciate that. Thank you, Khan. Yes. Melina, Jack and David are with my nephew, Vonriir and Xerrus."
“Excellent, then they should be safe from Orestes clutches, but we shall retire for now and begin again tomorrow” Khan replied to the silver as he slowly got up, heading to his bed.
"Be safe, Elder Khan," says Forge with a dip of his head. "I will see you tomorrow."

The silver dragon returned to their chambers and was relieved to hear Vonriir's rumbling voice speaking calmly to Melina.
"All is well?" Asked the silver.
"Yes, for now it seems anyway" replied Vonriir. "Bit the mountain clan seem awfully interested in how brathille works."
"How so? Have they been asking you about it?" The silver directed the question to Melina.
Melina looked up and nodded lightly.
“One of the mountain dragons came down with an injury, while I was treating him, the other two were being friendly and asking questions about Brathille, I was as vague as possible, while keeping friendly” Melina said to the old dragon.
Forge bristled slightly, "why didn't anyone come for me?" He asked, greatly unsettled by the fact that mountain dragons had gotten so close while he was away.
Melina gave a sheepish look to Forge.
“Blame me, I told Vonriir not to, I felt safe and I was treating him, refusing would of played into Orestes paws, you been busy negotiating and helping, there no need to stress you further my silver” Melina said.
Forge drew in a breath and held it a moment, turning away and eating the words he wanted to say.
Vonriir could see the silver was still angry.
"I ensured her safety, sir. No harm would have befallen miss Melina,"
"I don't want it happening again." He rumbled. "I don't trust them."
Melina nodded, sensing the dragon was angry and she felt guilty about making Forge annoyed.
“I be more careful sir and it wont happen again” Melina said as Ardon and Jack returned back from a patrol.

Forge had been greatly displeased that the mountain dragons had come to Melina while he was in a meeting with Kahn. It gave him no good feeling to know that eyes were on him and the humans that they cared so deeply for. Despite his anger, he did not wish to scold Melina, especially in front of the others. He knew she could not deny the injured though a sick feeling in his stomach wondered if the mountain clan had inflicted in the wounds on their own to gain her attention.
He wondered what for though.
Vonriir seemed a little sheepish the rest of the night, feeling like he had failed his superior in the one task that he had asked of him. Melina had done her best to ease tensions between the group. The last thing they needed was arguments between their own while they were trying to settle the issues with the Syrian dragons.

Eventually the group eased as Forge relaxed a bit, though he was still focused on trying to remedy this mess they had found themselves in. The talks were not going well, especially with the water clan now siding aggressively with the mountain clan. Things were not looking like they were going well to sort this all out. It was frustrating for the great silver. Normally disputes he had dealt with in the past would have been sorted out by now but the complexity of this dilemma plus the underlying motives from the mountain clan certainly didn’t help.

The next day the clans gathered in the great meeting hall once more. The forest, ice and desert clans looked worn from battling hard to remain on solid ground, the unrelenting Mountain clan fighting with edged words to verbally beat the others into submission.
Mention was made of a sacred piece of territory shared by the forest and ice clans. The two of them reared up in defiance as the mountain clan tried to swindle their way into reallocating the territory into their own possession. The room grew loud as tempers flared. Shouts came from every corner of the room before Forge looked over to Vonriir.
The cragback let out a deep beguiling bellow, that came suddenly out of the blue, startling the whole gathering into stunned silence.
Forge gave a nod of thanks to the large dragon before standing up and addressing the group.
“This talk has descended into bickering nonsense. We cannot possibly expect to get anywhere with emotions leading the way as they are. I call for a brief break and we can resume again in two hours time,” suggested the silver.
"Your diplomacy is taking too long, we could be here for ages, I suggest we meet back here at mid morning, if your even a second late Mediator Forge, consider these talks over" Orestes said.
Forge wanted to growl but reined it in. He could see Vonriir’s worried look out of the corner of his eye.
"May I remind you, Orestes, that I have been the first one in this chamber every morning since talks began?" Forge said, looking over at the mountain dragon, slowly. "The Syrian clans have been built on diplomacy. Are you suggesting they abandon their beliefs simply because you are not getting what you want?"

"I think you find that I have support from our allies here, I think if you’re as punctual as you said you be here" Orestes said as the water and earth clans nodded in agreement
"The talks will continue so long as there is an opposition. Take your recess, Orestes, we will continue tomorrow," said Forge dryly.
The clans did not linger to see if this would boil over, turning to leave quickly and retire to their quieter, less tension filled parts of the tunnels.
Orestes lingered behind, catching up with Forge as he left the speaker’s platform.
"Oh, I must thank your human Forge, for treating one of our dragons, she was VERY helpful with tending his injuries" Orestes said bowing slightly.
Forge wasn't going to let that mention of Melina rile him, "She is a guiding light of Comhaltas and all of kilara, if I could be so prideful to say. Many a dragon here would benefit to take a lesson from her." He twisted it around to make it sound far more appealing to their side of things.
Orestes smiled, "I am glad to hear it, she was very helpful indeed, a great umm..Atillu? , Is that what you call them" he asked.
"You seem awfully interested in the bond as of late, Orestes. Shouldn't other issues at hand be put in focus?"
"Mere curiosity Forge, you cannot deny a dragon's curiosity, in any case the human, professor Melina was helpful to us so I was extending my gratitude, I can see why your protective of her," the mountain dragon replied.
Forge fought not to growl at the other dragon. Hearing her name come from between his lie weaving teeth made the silver’s blood boil.
"May I ask how your dragon came to be injured in a place like this?" Forge inquired, the question pulling at him all day, nagging at him.
"The dragon in question was returning from the watering hole when he fell and landed on jagged rocks, worn down by the stream, they could of carried on but your human is known as a Hylen so we decided to seek her help, she seemed happy to oblige," Orestes explained.
“She is a friend to all dragons,” replied Forge, pausing at the fork in the hallways that would lead them off in separate directions. “Take care to remember that.”
With that he turned and left, leaving Orestes to consider that thought while he retired to his quarters. He had much to discuss with Jack, David melina and the other dragons. Their plan wasn’t working but he didn’t know what else could at this point.

“Seems to be an awkward negotiation from the sounds of it, poor Forge must be frustrated” Jack said taking a drink of water as Ardon kept close to him as the humans discussed the plans.
“I must compliment your dragon Mel, he has got good resolve to carry on despite the dirty tactics” David added as Melina smiled lightly.
“Yes, he is pretty patient and got experience, though Orestes has irked him a little”.
“I can understand that professor, sadly our night patrols have been quiet, little activity and sadly it is frustrating Xerrus a little, if it is the mountain dragon s pulling the strings, they doing a good job at it, sadly for us” David replied as Jack nodded.
Melina wondered why their patrols were quiet but realised that while they were talking the poor night striker was trying to sleep.
“We best keep our voices down, allow Xerrus to sleep, you should be sleeping David” Melina said as the man chuckled lightly.
“Should professor, but you do make a great cup of camp side tea” he joked.
Xerrus shifted slightly in his sleep, though the dragon did not wake to the gentle chatter.
"Did you bring anything to eat?" Asked Ardon. They ate fine from hunting in the area but he was hoping for something else procured from one of the human’s rucksacks.
Jack turned and gave him a look.
“You’re a golden dustbin you know that?, Vonriir is the largest dragon on Kilara and he doesn’t eat as much as you do” Jack lightly teased.
"I'm growing though," countered ardon, nosing the man's head with his muzzle.
“Yeah outwards” Jack said making the humans chuckle.
“Here, some chocolate for your starving dragon, does he want dark chocolate or milk chocolate” David offered.
"Milk please," requested the gold.
"I don't like the butter stuff as much."
David handed over the bar for Jack to take the wrapper off and broke the large bar in half and gave one bit to Ardon to try and satisfy his hunger.
“Xerrus loves Dark chocolate, good job he’s sleeping, I can nick a bit” David said as Melina lightly laughed.
"By far one of the best things to have been brought over with your arrival," joked Ardon.
Jack grinned giving him a pet on the muzzle.
“Softy” Jack said as he saw give a contended thrum.
The crinkle of wrappers woke the shadow dragon. He shifted over and pointed his long muzzle towards David, "I guess I better have a piece now before you eat it all yourself," he teased. "I know you tell the girls it was me when it goes missing but I know better." He smiled.
David turned as jack and Melina laughed lightly, David made a face as he gave some to the night striker.
“Hearing is good with him as well, I should have asked for chocolate without a crinkling wrapper” David joked as he broke off a square to eat.
The group laughed lightly, save for Forge, he rained quiet and stormy, caught up in his own thoughts.
Xerrus took a small piece of chocolate in his teeth and let it melt slowly.
"We will sort this out soon enough, Forge," said Xerrus, "I know we will"
Melina nodded in agreement.
“Remember that old earth saying I taught you Forge?, remember that” Melina said.
“I cant recall that saying” David said, “What was it?”
"Don't let the bastards grind ya down!" Supplied Ardon cheerily.
"Ardon," Said Forge, turning his fiery eyes on him, "language."
The humans laughed and chuckled as the saying coming from Ardon was pretty funny, soon everyone settled down as David got another hour or so before they began their night patrol, Melina got changed and settled in to see, along with Jack.

Melina woke up early in the morning as she stretched, looking to see Forge was still up, Melina did not question the silver as she spoke.
“I need to pop to the loo, I wont be too long” Melina said.
"I'll walk you down," said Forge, getting up.
“I don’t need a minder but if it makes you feel better” Melina said as the two walked out of the chamber, soon they heard a noise in the water, Melina guessed it might be Forge’s ally.
“I go quickly, you go answer him, I will be right back” Melina said briskly walking so she would be in and out like a flash.
Forge wanted to protest but he knew the time was limited. He watched her go for a second before dashing back to Uetto.
Uetto was waiting in the same pool of water, keeping hidden from view as Forge came over to speak to him.
“Psst Forge, I have new you must hurry, there is going to be a sneak attack on my clan, the mountain dragons want a foot hold on our lands to swing the vote” Uetto said, voice sounding a little panicky.
"What! We will go at once!" Said Forge, alarmed at the news. He roused the others quickly and explained what happened.
"We must move quickly before anything happens. I have to fetch Melina. I'll be right back. I will meet you by the water clan chambers." Ordered forge as he dashed away.
Unknown to Forge was after going to the loo Melina was cornered by the mountain dragons, before she had chance to yell out she was knocked unconscious, Orestes saw the woman laying lifeless on the floor but still breathing.
“Make a small cut on her arm, Forge will sense it and we can spring our little surprise” the leader said as the one soldier used his one claw to cut a mark into the woman’s arm as blood seeped down and dripped onto the stone floor.
“He smell that and follow her, lets move” Orestes said as the woman was carried to be bait to spring the trap.
"Melina!" Yelled Forge, more desperate the longer he searched. "Melina!"
A feeling of dread washed over him as he felt like something had gone horribly wrong.
Melina was laid on the floor of the cavern to set the trap, Orestes endured blood dropped onto the floor for Fprge to smell and seek out his Atillu, “Hide yourselves and your scents, go” Orestes barked as the dragons took their places.
Forge was drawn down a series of tunnels, pulled by what he wasn't sure. He could catch brief hints of her scent on the air as he charged down the halls. "Melina!" He shouted, catching sight of her in a cavern. He could smell blood as he rushed to her. "Melina!" He said, stooping over her to assess what has happened.
As soon as he walked in all of a sudden a large boulder was shut behind them, the large bouylder settled into the cavern entrance too well as something was happening outside as the smell of fire and something else was going on.
Melina stirred and looked up, “Forge?...Forge it’s a trap!” Melina said but it was too late as they were sealed in.
Forge let out a bellow of outrage, pounding his fist on the boulder that sealed them in.
Laughter could be heard as Melina got up shakily, she inspected the damage to herself, it was a small cut but enough to drag Forge out.
Soon a familiar voice could be heard.
“Now you stay put right there, when mid sun comes and your not there, the meetings will fold, I warned you not to interfere but you had to stick your nose into our business, now you stay there” Orestes said as the mountain dragons left them.
"May your wings rot off your back, Orestes!" Roared Forge but it was no use
Melina shakenly got to her feet, feeling the bump she had got from the mountain dragon who attacked her and the cut on her forearm.

"Mel," said the dragon, turning back to her and using a Talon to help her to her feet. "You're hurt. What happened?"
Melina shook her head.
“I be ok, it’s only a scratch, they did it on purpose to draw you out, I dashed to the loo and when I came out they were there, knocking me to the floor I was out cold, next thing I knew I was here” Melina explained, rubbing her head.
Forge ground his teeth and growled angrily, letting out a string of expletives under his breath as he looked her over to make sure she was okay.
“Forge..I’m sorry I should of waited with you, just wanted you to help that water dragon, never meant to be a burden on you” Melina said lowering her gaze.
"No, please don't apologize. None of us could have known." Said forge in a quiet tone.
Melina nodded lightly.
“We cant let him get away with it, we need to get out of here” Melina said assertively, getting more fight in her words to the silver.
"I will try," said the dragon, turning back to the rock. "The others won't leave without us"
Melina nodded.
“I know they wont, they come back and soon find us, we just need to get out of here, I’m ok just need to focus on getting free so we can reveal their intent” Melina said to the silver.
The dragon was already trying, trying to find gaps in the rock with a determined expression.
Melina looked at the boulder.
“Can you move it?, what takes 8 of them to move you must be able to shift” Melina said, confidence in her dragons abilities.
"One would think so," hugged the dragon, trying. "But something has got it stuck."
“Look, they put a metal resin to seal us in, we got to work past that” Melina said.
The dragon planted his feet and shoved at the boulder hard with his shoulder.
“That’s it Forge lets go for it, you can do it my Silver” Melina said, her words echoing another Melina and Jack from another point in the dragon’s life.
Forge paused for a moment, the phrase so familiar. With a growl he pressed on, trying to get the rock to budge.
Melina stood out the way to allow the silver dragon to focus on the task at hand and to get them out of here before the deadline.
The dragon knew that he had to get to the council room or else the mountain clan would use this opportunity to take everything they had fought for. He gritted his teeth and clawed at the stone.
"Keep at it Forge, come on" Melina said to the silver.
Great scratch marks were left in the surface of the stone as his claws slipped while he fought for purchase.
Melina frowned seeing the resin hold the boulder firmly in place.
"They sealed us in tight, we got to get out" Melina said.
"I don't know how they've managed it, I should be able to get us free," forge growled.
" Then show me what your made of my silver, push it" Melina said, keeping out the way as the silver battled the boulder.
Forge frowned and set to work, trying to unblock the stone from their exit.
“Keep going” Melina urged her dragon on as she watched him push and heave against the stone.
"Grrrh!" Snarled forge, shoving at the boulder with all he had.
Melina hoped that someone would come to their aid as Forge, despite being strong for his age, was up against it, as Forge roared and growled in effort to make the boulder budge.
Vonriir came racing down the hall and could hear forges roar.
"Forge! Is that you?" He asked, seeing the splattered metal around the stone.
"Yes! The mountain clan kidnapped Melina and trapped us in here. I can't get us out!"
"Hang on, they've sealed you in with metal. Stand back," instructed Vonriir.

Melina was relieved that Vonriir had come to their aid, questions about the mountain dragon attacked raced in her mind but she had to focus on encouraging the silver dragon.
"Vonriir, if you pull I can push, “asked forge through the stone.
"Right!" Replied the dragon. Vonriir dug his talons into a crack and began to pull mightily while forge pushed his shoulder against the surface of the rock.
“Keep at it boys, we can get out of here, I got faith in both of you” Melina said in a positive tone of voice, despite the ordeal she been through she was behind the two largest dragons with her support.
The dragons worked at dislodging the boulder with great effort.
“Keep going, push Forge” Melina urged the silver, keeping out the way but close so he could hear her.
Vonriir gave a deep growl as he pulled at the boulder.
"Come on," rumbled forge, throwing his weight into pushing the rock.
Melina watched as the Silver and the Crag back worked hard to get them out of Orestes trap.
"Umph," huffed Vonriir on the other side of the rock as he heaved.
Melina held her palm up and closed her eyes, trying to focus and awaken Brathille to give her dragon strength, she felt something building as she opened her eyes, her palm glowed and grew warm, Brathille was awakening.
Forge felt something wash through him, as he stood back for a moment.
Turning to look he saw Melina's palm was glittering slightly as was his own scale, ever so gently. Feeling a surge of renewed energy, the dragon pushed at the boulder mightily with a growl.
“I hope Brathille helps you my silver, my way of contributing” the professor said.
The light across the silver dragons scales glittered more brightly now as he let out a snarl. Forge could feel brathille fuelling his muscles as he pushed mightily against the boulder. "Grrr," he growled in frustration.
“You got this, come on Forge” Melina encouraged, keeping her palm raised, hoping it make Brathille travel easier between them.
"Hmph!" Huffed Vonriir, pulling at the rock while Forge pushed, trying to break the metal seal around the boulder. Forge could feel it start to budge as brathille spurred him on.
“I hope Von can do this” Melina thought as she saw the edges of the large dragons claws, trying to pull this boulder away.
The silver bared his teeth and gave a deep growl as he pushed at the boulder.
"Grrg," rumbled forge, throwing his weight into pushing the rock, hind legs shaking as he pushed with all his might.
“That’s it Forge, you got this my Silver, Von is helping you, you can do it!” Melina hearing the metal resin crack and some bits break as the boulder seemed to be losing its firm position.
The silver pressed on, determined to get them out and stop Orestes.
“Come on” Melina said out loud as Forge battled away with his all.
The crag back could see the progress being made.
He clawed at the remaining metal, watching it crumble before taking hold of the boulder and pulling it back again.
Oh he other side Forge bared his teeth and pushed, seeing light coming through the cracks. His scales shimmered brightly now as his wings trembled in the effort.
“You got this!” Melina said, encouragement and hope rising in her voice as progress was being made.
Vonriir rumbled like thunder, doubling his efforts.
Forge shook all over. Hearing Melina's encouragement he let out a roar as he gave a mighty push and the boulder rolled back from the entry.
The cragback held the boulder back with trembling effort. "I've got it, come out," said the dragon with shaky breath.
"Come," urged forge, scooping Melina up and dashing out so that Vonriir could drop the rock
"You're glowing like starmoss!" Marvelled the large dragon.
"Yes, we don't have time to stare in awe, we have to go!" Said forge, putting Melina on his shoulder and breaking out into a sprint.
“We need to get there Forge” Melina said as she gripped one of his back spikes as the large silver dragon sprinted as best he could, glittering and glowing with the power of Brathille.
The golden dragon was coming back to the caverns as Jack saw a tired Vonriir, sweat covering his scales.
“Speed it up Ardy, something up” the man said gripping tighter on the harness.
Ardon came racing in with Jack on his shoulders, looking alarmed.
"What happened?" He asked.
"The mountain clan kidnapped Melina and lured forge in the cavern and sealed him in. They just left to race to the council room." Vonriir panted. "The mountain clan is trying to make the meeting fail if Forge didn't show."
"We've got to hurry to the council room," said Ardon.
“Let’s get there, we wasted enough time playing their games, Xerrus and David are back in the cavern but if he’s needed he come out” Jack said to the golden dragon as they rushed to the chambers.

Forge sprinted as fast as he could. He was not much for running these days but that did not hold him back. As he ran he could hear the sounds of Orestes’s voice echoing through the halls. He growled to himself, speeding up as he felt Melina hand on tighter to his back. Forge had it in his hearts to help the other clans, right from the start but now that Orestes had gotten Melina involved, there was a raging fury in his blood that wouldn’t be put out until he saw the mountain dragon fall. No one in this world or another would get between a dragon and their Attilu, especially Forge.
The silver dragon burst into the room from the left entry and came to a sudden halt overlooking the clans from the highest tier of the room. His scales glittered still and his eyes were ablaze in his fury.
The council members looked startled as a glowing Forge ran into the chambers; Orestes looked amazed that they got free, something he had not expected to be possible. It was a small reward for Forge, seeing the shocked look on his face for that brief moment.
"What on Kilara's moons is going on"? Elder Khan said.
"There is a snake in the council!" Growled Forge as the crowd gasped. “A traitor amongst you. Orestes kidnapped my Attilu. Brought harm to her and barricaded me in a cavern when I went to rescue her with the intent of making the negotiations fall apart without my presence. He knew he could only win without my being here and saw to make it so."
Khan turned to Orestes and frowned, “Is this true Orestes you know the rules and procedures of this chamber" Khan warned.
Orestes snorted, " I am offended by such an allegation, perhaps Forge should keep a closer eye on the two legged " he said.
The silver snarled, "Melina, show them the mark on your arm, tell them what happened," said Forge.
From atop his back Melina showed Khan her arm which was marred with dried blood from the cut, "The mountain clan attacked me, I know what I saw and used me as bait to trap Forge," Melina said as gasps came from the council members.
"I Think your human tripped and fell, such fragile creatures" Orestes said as Melina frowned.
"Not as fragile as you think, you lying yellow belly lizard, " Melina spat as chatter and murmurs erupted at the human’s outburst.
Just then Ardon dashed into the room, followed by Vonriir and Xerrus with David atop his back. The gold dragon moved forward as Jack stood in the saddle to address the room.
"I have more to add to the council, we were informed of any attack on water clan, turned out to be fake, the only reason was drag us all away while Forge got trapped.....the evidence is there" Jack said assertively.
“I had to help get him out. The mountain clan sealed the entrance with metal,” added Vonriir, tossing a fistful of the shattered resin onto the floor. The clan dragons looked over it with astonished expressions, whispering to one another as the chatter grew louder. It was unmistakeable, the metal shards on the floor had the look of mountain clan work.
"I've seen that before..." whispered an earth dragon.
"Metal, like the mountain dragons armour..." said another in hushed tones.
"We have gotten word that the mountain clan has devised armour, to make it impossible for the other clans to fend them off when they come down upon them. You have been fed lies and falsehoods by the mountain clan. See them for what they really are," said Forge, thrashing his tail.
"Enough, I've heard enough lies and insults from you Forge, glowing like some sort of firefly, we are a stable force of the Syrian species" Orestes protested.
He was still denying any attack happened despite mounting evidence?
"I glow from the light of Brathille, which ignites in moments of danger. This I cannot lie about. Water clan, you have suffered enough, now is your chance to speak against those who have bullied you into submission." He said, looking to them in hopes that they would speak up.
The water clan did not say anything but the leader nodded lightly.
"Mountain clan are guilty of interference and aggressive tactics" Hitteki said as the Syrians raised their calls.
"I reject this, you going to believe some outsider over your own Syrian" Orestes said but the crowd was turning against them.
"Some outsider has their best interests at heart," replied Forge. "I am here for the safety and wellbeing of the clans and I refuse to leave until I see to it," he said, trying to rally the others.

Elder Khan inspected the metal resin that Vonriir had chucked for inspection, indeed it was crafted in such a way that it had to be the mountain dragon’s.
Hitteki also looked and seemed to get angry at the dirty deeds of the Mountain clan and Orestes, this had gone on too far.
“You threatened and hurt our mediators, harmed Forge’s human and shamed the name Syrian dragon, you are not fit to be in this chamber, you and your councillors” Hitteki said as the desert clan chimed in.
“He has broken every rule of the chamber Khan, he should face the maximum punishment”.
Orestes did not seemed phased by the anger and the raised voices from the other clans, even as the water clan and Earth clan began to find their courage to speak up.
“This council is so outdated and has lost its purpose, you all be lost without our craft, yes we been developing armour but we have done it to continue the Syrian legacy” Orestes said.
"The council is here exactly for that reason, to protect each of the clans from overzealous dragons like you." Boomed forge.
"They won't stand for your bullying anymore, Orestes," growled Ardon.
Khan put his paw up to silence the crowd, the discontent and anger towards the mountain dragons could be felt as the clans united around the elder and their mediators.
“Orestes, the evidence of tampering, influencing decisions and worst of all threatening to harm a dragon’s Atillu is serious, as well as the assault on her majesty, these things cannot be tolerated no more” Khan said assertively.
Orestes snorted and shook his head.
“Without us, you all wither and die, you’re a fool old dragon if you think you can simply ban us or tell us what to do, we are the crafter’s of the Syrians, we control the elements you all need, you all need our support” Orestes said defiantly.
"Orestes of the mountain clan, you have brought shame to the Syrians, your clan and your kin. The others can survive without you, that I am certain. Everyone in this room sees past your lies and deception." Declared Forge, "together they can create a much fairer society, untainted by the corruption that surrounds you."
The dragons stamped their feet on the stones in applause of Forge’s speech as Khan cleared his throat.
“Orestes, you and your clan have committed unforgivable acts, I have no choice but the issue the punishment under Syrian law, you and your clan are banned from the council forever, plus no other clan will recognise your presence and you are now shunned, no clan will trade or do anything with you, your clan is expelled from the Syrian brotherhood” Khan said as the others growled and hissed at the mountain clan.
Orestes laughed.
“You seriously expect us to believe that you will ban us, your all cowards and push overs, we are the future of the Syrian race” Orestes said but his confident looks seemed to fade as one by one the council members turned and faced away from the clan leader.
This was them shunning the mountain clan forever, they would be ignored forever and dismissed from the council and Syrian life.
Even their allies turned their backs at Orestes, now they lost the support there, Khan stood and shook his head.
“You cant do this!” Orestes said.
“It is done, now get out and never return” Khan snapped.
Orestes growled as the whole council had turned their backs to them, “You cannot force us out” he protested.
“No, but the mediators can” Khan said as he gestured to Forge and the others to remove Orestes from the chambers.
"Don't dishonour yourself further," said Forge, giving him one last chance. "Leave as you have been ordered. The clans have spoken."
Orestes growled but Vonriir stood forward and soon his support began to falter, there would be no dragon there to take on a massive Crag back like Vonriir, plus Forge was still glowing, plus Ardon stood in a row.
Orestes knew he was beaten and he left along with his dragons, being foced to leave, no more would the Mountain clan come to the council meeting.
As they walked away Orestes saw another human waiting in the dark shaded area.
Orestes was going to growl at David but the man shook his head.
“Don’t even think about it sir, keep moving along and out of here” David said assertively as he pointed to the darkness, making the mountain clan look at him confused.
Xerrus glowered at the mountain clan, letting out the haze of smoke from his jaws.
The mountain dragons soon picked up the pace, not liking the look of the night striker with his purple eyes glowing in the dark, the mere sight made all the Mountain dragons quicken out of the chambers.
Khan turned and spoke to the silver.
“This council owes you and your humans a big debt of gratitude, with this ban the mountain dragons will lose influence and soon they will remove Orestes as a leader, when they want to be sensible again we may allow them, but not in the lifetime of its current leaders” Khan said with a small smile.
The silver dipped his head, "you are most welcome, elder Kahn."
Hitteki came forward and bowed her head in respect to the silver and the team.
“Thank you all for what you done, we can now move forward with the other clans who want to work together, the mountain clan will not bother us again, you have allies with us for Comhaltas” Queen Hitteki said with a smile as Jack grinned looking at Ardon.
"And you'll always have us," replied the gold.
"This much is true," nodded Forge. "We hope the future is bright for you all."
“I am sure we will Forge, with your help and the major blockage removed, we can progress” Khan said as Melina smiled.
After a day or so, the team returned to Comhaltas, the team had their debriefing before Jack reported their progress to earth.
Melina decided to take the time to rest and was in her quarters, having a wash and sorting out the cut to her arm, which Forge was fussing over.
"Does your arm hurt?" Asked forge, lowering his head to inspect it. "I hate that I allowed that to happen..."
Melina shook her head lightly.
“No it’s all good, put some stuff on and it will heal over, might leave me with a battle scar, I can say I stood by your side during a heated diplomatic mission, I keep it as a trophy” Melina grinned looking up at the silver.
"Trophy," tsked Forge with a smile. "I much rather you have stories to tell over scars to show off."
Melina laughed lightly.
“Well it is a story, so there we go, plus makes me look more fearsome” Melina said pretending to be a dragon and barring her teeth at the silver in a silly moment of play.
"Frightening," laughed the dragon, "you would make a ferocious dragoness,"
Melina chuckled as she got settled into bed, Forge once again offering to be her bed for the evening, she grabbed her blankets and settled down.
“Love you silver, really proud of you” Melina said looking up as she rested herself against his scales to sleep.
"And I, you, dragon slayer." He said, touching her forehead gently with his nose.
Melina soon fell asleep, content with her large silver protector, she seemed to be concerned she would dream of the strange facility and be bonded with the boldwing again……

Melina woke up startled, once she looked around not recognising anything, she began to panic until she came to her senses and realised she had been dreaming again, it was so weird that she remembered it so well.
Melina shook her head, getting out of bed and heading for the bathroom, she splashed some cold water onto her face and dried off with a towel, looking herself in the mirror.
“Get it together Mel” she said to herself.
"Melina?" Asked Zyra, waking up. "What's wrong?"
Melina used a towel to dry her face as she entered the room once more, Zyra was up concerned for the professor.
“Nothing, just another weird dream again, always feels so real, I think drinking over the celebration period might be why” Melina said.
"Are you having the same dream over and over?" Inquired Zyra, rubbing her eyes.
Melina nodded lightly with a sigh as she sat on her bed and yawned, stretching.
“It is just a dream after all, maybe lay off the coffee, that might do the trick, I know I made some for Veyron and then I had 2 cups” Melina said thinking if that what was causing her dreams to be so bizarre.
The dragoness gave her a concerned look , "do you think you'll be able to get back to sleep?"
Melina nodded lightly.
“I think so, best to get sleep so I can continue our work tomorrow” Melina replied settling back into bed.
"Alright," yawned the dragoness, putting her head on the end of the bed. "I hope you have good dreams this time."
Melina laid her head on the pillow and closed her eyes slowly, breathing in and out calmly.
“Dream of travelling with the queen of speed” Melina gave a small smile, looking at Zyra.
"Fastest dreams around. Night Mel, love you," said the dragoness, closing her eyes to sleep.
“Love you too” Melina said getting comfortable in her, though the nagging feeling of her being bonded with Forge on Kilara lingered with her, she was feeling guilty that she kept having these dreams and imagining life with the silver warlord.
