background and Highlighting

right, criticism is the mother of improvement.

I'm quite oblivious when it comes to create believeable backgrounds picturing rolling plains of grass. Anyone have any suggestions? (or example pictures of seemingly endless plains)

another thing I wish help with is where to put high-lighting on the character. those red glowing things are light hovering in the fur. where should it drop light-reflection?

I'd be grateful for any help you peeps can give

I'm really sleepy right now and don't feel like big-time critiquing, sorry. I'd just like to suggest you moving that big rock so that it's not directly behind him like that. Makes the picture really heavy on the left and empty on the right.

okay, I moved the rock and added some more background stuff.

I will crop some of the foreground off unless I find something to put there. like some very close heaps of rubble or grass or tiny martians parading

Did it help when I moved the huge rock to the right side of the picture?

That looks much, much better! I really like how you included those little plants to break up the rocks and the sky looks great!
