Attempt on backgrounds.

I'm trying to draw a TLK-ish background, and this was what I could come up with. Could someone please tell me how to improve it?

The picture was mousedrawn in Adobe Photoshop 7.
Thanks!

There's not really much you can critisize becuase it's mostly sky and silhouette-styled land. But it's very nice

Perhaps you could use less of the smudge tool in the land, it kinda gives off a messy effect and concentrate on more detail , a wider selection of shadow and highlight colours would also make a tonal improvement

Yeah, my only comlaint is the smudgyness. The highlights on the tree don't match the outline of the tree, and could use a bit more tree-like texture (leaves are fun!). Parts of the outline looks sharp and parts look smudgy, because of the highlighting. You really want them all to be sharp. I'd either re-highligh, paying more attention to the outlines, or take the eraser tool around that layer and cleaning up the edges. Assuming you have layers, of course, otherwise it might get tricky.

Hehe yeah, I thought I kinda overdid the smudging. (Who knew the smudge tool was so much fun?) But thank you so much for your advice, va-kasi and Pegasuss! I'll try it on my next background attempts, mmkay? Thank you! ^^

And thank you, Daanzi and Tellerz! xD
